Toonpack 9303 Posted Friday at 07:44 Share Posted Friday at 07:44 A real post on Reddit: My neighbour is Mexican/American his parents live with him but they're illegals, can anyone tell me who I can report them to to get deported ? Crikey !!

Probably not though eh. Hi ghost Gemmill. Why do you think there will be a next time? There won't be. It'll either be an outright dictatorship or there will be some pretence of democracy akin to Russia.

I think it will be both instructive and therapeutic for you to watch it. That’s my prescription for you this morning… I’ve even gone to YouTube to get it. I'm not sure what I'm more fearful of, having to live here or the thought of being deported. I've lived here 14 years now and a green card holder due to marriage, I didn't pull the trigger on citizenship due to the sense that my UK passport might one day be my get out of jail card. I'm not sure if its a blessing or a curse. I'm now wondering what will happen to the long term safety of my job, with Musk on board I could see them winding down NASA in favour of SpaceX, at very least maybe making that loon the NASA administrator, it feels like something that might be sacrificed which just adds to the horrific sense of doom. Christ, I hadn't even thought what the effect of Musk cronyism might be on NASA. Hope you are okay Jimbo, unfortunately the UK has also turned to shit in your absence, although we don't have your levels of insanity.

Their countries possibly (probably) won't want to take them back. What's the plan in that case? Internment camps or US planes landing in foreign sovereign countries, leaving thousands of people on the runway and leaving again? Good question. And who's going to do the rich Republicans' gardening? Feels like an extreme version of Brexit. "What, Jose the handyman has been deterned? Keep turning up in here and posting 30+ times a day catastrophising about it if that's what you enjoy. I'll just keep marking the thread as read and will worry about it if/when it actually affects me.
Holden McGroin 6544 Posted Friday at 09:14 Share Posted Friday at 09:14 Worrying about the future is standard anxiety. I’m going to be controversial here but I agree with Gemmill. Worrying about things out of our control is not healthy for the mind. I’m similar (although not at rentons doomsday levels) where I like to have a plan and a backup plan for upcoming situations. But that’s in my control. If I lose my job, how much have we got in the bank to keep going ? What if the kids get bullied? What happens if the mrs catches me tugging one out to dwarf porn? Etc.

I've actually got a whole load of shit in my personal life to stoke my anxiety issues. This is just background shit. Just making the point saying "this won't affect me" is fine, but it's demonstrably not true. Not to mention we have posters here are very much directly affected. Not a lot pisses me off about this board but people complaining about me complaining might be one them. We all react differently to stuff. I like to think what the potential outcome might be. I try to do this as objectively as I can, it's not catastrophising in my view. If people think it is then they are free to tell me why and what the alternative prediction is, I'm open to other interpretation. But personally, I think at the moment things look bleak because they are bleak.

And now it seems I'm duty bound to share in the misery because others on here might be impacted at some indeterminate point in the future. The FACT is that the only impact this is having on your life TODAY is self generated by you posting about how bad it could all get on here. That is a fucking fact. If you enjoy doing that, then keep doing it. But I'm not playing.
Holden McGroin 6544 Posted Friday at 09:34 Share Posted Friday at 09:34 I don’t think people are complaining about you complaining. It’s all light hearted from what I can see. im similar in terms worrying about outcomes but we actually don’t really know what Trump/RJK are going to do exactly. You’re jumping to worst possible conclusion about what could potentially happen. It might not happen so you’re worrying about something that might not even come true. Thing is, macroenconomic impacts seldom hit you literally the next day (unless you losse your job) and are incredibly hard to pin on single events. You're a clever bloke though. You know how this will impact on our economy and politics in the NEAR FUTURE. And I completely respect you not wanting that discussion, but you don't have to become a denialist. Holden, we have lived through one Trump administration where he was younger, saner, less vengeful and did not have unfettered power. I'm basing my opinions on what might happen basedon that and what he has said. We're getting into Leopards Eating People's Faces Party stuff here. Do not be surprised when Trump does some of the stuff he said he will. And if this is just 10% of that stuff (it won't be), that is bad news. Renton 21404 Posted Friday at 10:47 Share Posted Friday at 10:47 Phew. I'm so glad this Jacob Ress Mogg fellow (not a global elite) has told us about how grateful we should be that Donald Trump (not a global elite), backed by Elon Misk (definitely not a global elite) has crushed the global elites!
