Christmas Tree 4821
After a new TV. I think I've so far narrowed my requirements to: 40 - 48 inch Smart TV Wall mountable Built in WiFi Around but preferably under £500 Anyone done any research lately. Any suggestions. I've also briefly read (in the last 10 minutes) something about using the USB slot to record. We don't record much but would this allow us to dump the sky box. Has anyone ever recorded this way. scoobos 298
LG are pretty well made and seem excellent value for money. I prefer my new one to my Panasonic plasma, which cost 3 times as much as the 42" LG I just got . Smart TV / WebOS is excellent too
ewerk 31195
Is there any point in 4K in a screen that size?
ewerk 31195
Also, is there anything out there to watch in 4K? I think Netflix might offer it but not sure of anything else.

There's also a quite a bit of porn available - not for everyone but where porn goes, the rest of the net/entertainment industry usually follows. Dr Gloom 22143
you can definitely go big on a new smart tvs. there's so little border on them - my new one is 55" but it doesn't take up much more room on the wall than my old 42" plasma

The new Samsungs just about swept the board in the what Hi-Fi awards for 2015, so worth checking if you can find a deal on them... http://www.whathifi.com/awards/2015/televisions If not it looks like they would suggest the Panasonic TX-40CS520 Recording via USB depends on the TV I think. I set up a 1TB hard drive on my father in laws tv so he can record to that directly via usb connection. His wife filled the crappy BT box they had. He never actually used it, upgraded to a 1tb Tivo instead and has kept my 1tb drive. Thanks for the reminder, I'll have to berate him and get it back. Kid Dynamite 7169
They're mostly all wall mountable. If you have an android box hooked up then you can forego the smart/wifi features as they are usually shit, slow and useless after a year or two. Get a 50'' telly with thin bezel, plenty good ones available for under £

I think I'd be pushing it at 48" to be honest.

Cheers HF, I love Samsungs (mams got a 32) but I'm not sure I fancy a curved one. It's available at a few places under £500 so will go on my list. As for the USB I was assuming you could just stick a USB stick into and the TV would record onto that. Sounds like that's not the case from what you're saying. Cheers. I don't think the curved TVs are worth it unless you're getting a monster size one. The whole idea with them is to be immersed in it.

Christmas Tree 4821
You will regret buying 40'', go to at least 46'' I'll have a measure up before I buy, but all the guides (which etc) recommend no bigger than 40" for the distance we have sofa to wall.
