All the beast is, is a configuration of kodi with pretty pictures and separate menus set up for things like sports and movies. And then it's got a load of apps already installed. It does nothing other than that.

Genesis isn't being maintained anymore so it's getting more and more dead links. Real Debrid is partially solving that for me now but even some of those links are dead. They aren't all HD as some seem to believe, they tell you the quality though and I've never had any problems with buffering on any of them. Got Sicario on at the minute and it's perfect. That's through velocity rather than Genesis though. Velocity seems to be the way forward for films.

As I've said fairly often on here, the beast is good for people who don't want to do it themselves.

It's that simple really.

You were also suggesting that via the beast you get some sort of access to content you can't get otherwise. Which is comepletely untrue.

You just did to Toonpack about Stael for a start. You may not mean to do it but that's the way it's coming over.

Not at all. He said something had disappeared, I said it's still on the beast.

The beast is what it is, a ready made package for those of us who don't want to put a package together ourselves.

Live and let live I say. :)

...But has some shitty non HD streams that people are looking to improve on.

I have no problem with people doing their own thing. Those people should have the good grace to reciprocate :)

As for the quality, virtually everything I've watched on it has been very good.

In conclusion it meets all my needs, has a Facebook page if I want to ask a question and a "boffin" behind the scenes keeping an eye on the latest add ons / fixes etc.

Bit like toontastic ;)

Good luck to you.

Thought you'd been trying to explain to IT professionals why it was the best for everyone (genesis servers overloaded etc.)

Listening to the guy speak I doubt he could be considered a boffin at anything mind.

Having used the beast I found it pretty easy to use and has most things there for anyone who just wants to start watching live streams or movies/tv. I also found that it has a load of shite on that didn't work. So I would say that it could work both ways for someone new to Kodi, it has some easy to navigate menus but it also has a lot of clutter. For me it was more effort than it was worth but I know for others it's spot on.

I still don't know why CT thinks it's any easier to setup, let alone navigate. You add it in exactly the same way as you would any add on. So there is no greater complexity in trying whichever add ons people say are worth a go.

Like any add on, the Beast is only as good as the maintenance done on it and every add on tends to have a finite lifetime after which it starts going downhill and you have to jump ship onto the new kid on the block providing the best links. Even one that amalgamates the existing best ones into a single "beast".

I don't "think" it's easier to set up, it is.

Adding one build is quicker than adding 10 different add ons. You are literally up and running in 10 minutes.

As for "maintenance", the guy behind the scenes does this so that when (in his opinion) a better movie add on or sports add on comes out, he brings out a newer version which again usually takes minutes to update through ares.

That means that it's fairly straight forward for the end user to have a pretty up to date collection of add ons that meet most needs.

And the end of the day if it works reliably, which so far it does for me, I'm not sure why people have a go at it.

Yeah, this guy with a mammoth build to maintain isn't going to be on top of everything is he, compared to those running the add ons he's aggregating? He's just shoving in everything he can find and leaving it to you to browse to what's good, right?

The usefulness of the thread you kindly started is to point people to the best available add-ons, not to keep saying "but the beast is mint, why are you all bothering with anything else?"

Well stuff yer!!!!!!

If you want to Fanny on building one yourself go ahead.

So yes, spend days / weeks of valuable free time building one yourself or 10 minutes downloading a ready made one. No brainier

Weeks?

I've put 2 add-ons on my kodi builds on each device. Literally takes longer to google the links for them than copy and paste them into Kodi.

The point you seem unable to grasp is that it works fine for a lot of people who use it.

Movies - fine

TV - fine

Football - fine

You and others keep using words like mammoth / bloated...... But it works fine

And yes, he does seem on top of everything which is why updates come out when a better add on is available. He adds stuff and takes stuff away.

Yet still it works fine!

You might call having several options for football "mammoth", but I like the fact that on a Saturday if an add on is down or has a bad stream, I simply change the channel.
