Graing 15
I find it strange how apathetic I feel about a lot of our players. No emotional attachment to them. Perez, Janmaat (most of the time) and Krul are the only players I actually appreciate. The likes of Sissoko I can't stand, and I imagine the likes of Colback and Williamson at least have their hearts in the right place but I resent them for actually playing for my club. I don't want to judge Mbemba too harshly because of his age, new surroundings, and his defensive partners. Same goes for Mitrovic who I feel at least cares. Not sure I can say the same for Thauvin and Wijnaldum who've been anonymous at best, the biggest wastes of money in the league at worst. This sums up my feelings as well. I might add DeJong to the list. This coaching staff is absolutely clueless. But worse than that, we have a captain who has no pride, no heart, no soul. He's not leading, he's not calling out horrible play amongst the team or apologizing to fans. I doubt he's shouting in the dressing room or at training. A gutless captain and soft coaching staff set the tone for the club. The rest of the players (save a select few) shrug and cash thier checks as we look down the tunnel at near certain relegation. Without changes in attitude, philosophy and or personnel, there's not much hope in avoiding it. .... But at least we're not the scousers... I've no issue with a captain that isn't shouty on the pitch. An awful lot of that is for show and I can't stand seeing Taylor do it and Krul and Janmaat starting to follow suit, moreso at the fans than their teammates like. It's the same as having a poxy huddle on the pitch beforehand rather than in the changing room beforehand. Coloccini got the job because he's highly professional, irrespective of manager. First in, last out, helps new players integrate to the group, good at collecting the contributions to the christmas party and that sort of thing. He doesn't need warnings and discipline to get these basics right, and managers appreciate that example more through the whole week in training, than they do someone who will shout for 90 minutes come the big game. He's put in an excellent display or two trhis season, but he's been woeful more often, that said, our issues are ALL going forward right now, so I'm not sure Coloccini is the man to start confronting our playmakers on the pitch or to blame for the current situation. If he started giving teammates rockets and we started getting Bowyer/Dyer flare ups on the pitch then we'd really be in the shit.

Ayatollah Hermione 13886
McClaren is so married to this system that he plays one up top at home against Sheffield Wednesday reserves. They're never going to shake the players out of this malaise if they just repeat what went before. Going to be a long season, this.
Dr Gloom 21959
When was the last season that didn't feel long and tortuous? Genuinely feel for the 40 odd thousand season ticket holders who go year after year. Surely crowds are going to dip at some point. I don't think there's ever been as big a collective group of masochists anywhere in the history of sport.
Happy Face 29
McClaren is so married to this system that he plays one up top at home against Sheffield Wednesday reserves. They're never going to shake the players out of this malaise if they just repeat what went before. Going to be a long season, this. If it's a system he plans to use consistently and feels it's one the players just need to practice with for it to become more effective, you can see the argument for sticking at it against Sheff Wed. Should have been a confidence booster and valuable training exercise to implement it against lower level opponents. The attacking players are clearly dead against the system already though and can't muster any enthusiasm whatsoever for busting a gut to attack in numbers or for concentrating hard enough to pass to a team-mate rather than to the opposition or out of play. McClaren MUST either get the players on board with his system or change it to one they're happy with.

Happy Face 29
So we have players who don't want to run forward so the manager has to come up with another plan. These wankers need knocking out When it's one player you can knock them out. When an entire squad aren't putting in the work the system needs to work, you have to look at yourself and whether the system needs thought out again. Might not like that much player power or capitulating to it, but the alternative is he sticks to his guns and we keep losing with embarrassing shows. McFaul 35
I used to make out I was the loyal toon fan there is. I went to the toon v Oxford in 1991, huge boycott on 10,004 there, 10,003 without me. It was our shitest league gate of my toon supporting life. I obviously chucked my season ticket after 23 year in 2014 but I've not missed a game since December last year till last night. I'm delighted I didn't go and I'm not going on Saturday now. We are fucking shite, it'll be a long time till I go back. The whole persona of the club is fucked up beyond belief. Develop a good player, sell them for millions, well fuck off! Sign shite under 25s sell them for a profit. We're ran ragged by Sheffield Wednesday Reserves on our own ground with nearly 35000 there. I'm sick of being proud of our loyalty. We're laughed at from the whole country, the whole world. We should compete with almost anyone, and we can't fuckin compete with a team of reserves. I hate this club sometimes, Ashley can fuck right off with his I put the money up this time, it's been ruined for over half a decade the fat bastard. 35000. There's more than that won't go till he fucks off and I think I'm going to be one of them. Edited September 24, 2015 by McFaul

It'll be 0-5 at Half Time and Mourinho will tell his players to take it easy second half like O'Leary did when we went down to 8 men against Villa. This is being optimistic. I do think he needs to show more leadership off the pitch. I haven't seen a hint of it. Mostly I don't see him accepting responsibility which is quite an indictment for a so-called captain.
