I don't know what you call Lawro's, or to even begin to describe the look he's going for.

Cowell's haircut has all the style and grace of one of those free toothbrushes you sometimes can pick up from hotel reception desks if you've forgotten to pack one. Bizarre look for a man with so much wealth.

Can't even be trusted to play our better players. He's selected both Gouffran/Obertan this season and not out of necessity either. Keeps playing Vern and Colback together too. I get the feeling like he didn't want anybody to win Colback's place off him so just played Gouffran. Im sick otc already

It's been a rough start and today's capitulation was embarrassing but there's glimpses there that he can do something with these players. We attacked, in bursts admittedly, in the first half as well as we ever did under Pardew and better than we ever did under Carver. Just need to sort out the defence.

He'll come good. I hope. He's got a difficult job to do now. Hope he's still here at Christmas

Folk on here have talked about "Promising signs" since pre-season but that means FUCK ALL when you're into October without a win, rock bottom of the table and have just been shagged all over by the Arab gravy train. Or should that be curry train?

Until these "Promising signs" are turned into full, convincing 90 minute performances then the club is sinking without a fucking trace.

I'm personally guaranteeing you premiership safety this season.

Still think that there's things we're doing better than last season. For forty minutes yesterday, we did things well but the usual Keystone Cops routine at the back reared it's head. I think the hardest job McClaren has is sorting out the lack of confidence and trying to get some kind of late resurgence out of Coloccini. It's some fucking job he's got when you look at it like that. Also, he could hire a hitman to end Sissoko's career.

We only look like we can hurt the top teams. That's just like the old days of Pardew/Carver, when we've put in spirited performances it's usually been against attacking teams when we've scored goals in the space they leave trying to pursue a win. Outside of some enthusiasm against Southampton, every game against other teams outside of the top 6 has been as bad as ever. No imagination when it comes to playing through a team that's been setup to defend.

Hopefully Mitrovic can make a difference there.

I'd say it's more playing Perez and Mitrovic and losing Thauvin than "playing just against the top teams".

Add to that Mbabu adding some decent play down the left and I think we are set up to get some points on the board.

Hopefully Tiote can rediscover some solid play to see us through to January.

That's what I was about to say re: Mitrovic. Looks like he's landed on Mitrovic and Perez as the front two and we can hopefully give lesser teams trouble with those two. Get it to them and it'll stick which is more than you can say about Cisse. Still not sure there's time for panic yet, though. There's goals in that front two, Wijnaldum shows flashes (two goals and an assist so far, I believe) and a fully fit, in-form Tiote is a huge asset, if we can get him there.
