Calling Stevie! Attention Stevie!!!

Next opponents, Sheff Wed.

Not very bothered about this tie apparently, comments from 'meh' to 'mid table shit', 'not a big club', 'deluded fans', 'pitiful gates' etc. That'll be why when we played them a couple of years ago they brought big numbers during the week and were very much up for one of their biggest games that year at a ground they hadn't played at for a few years. Luckily the Sheffield lads I had a pint with that night were real life decent enough lads who remembered the old days where we always seemed to be in the same division and the big crowds there used to be for games between us, unlike some of the knackers on these internet forums though, what a bunch of fucking divvies.

The thing about this not a big club, as I always say its a load of bollocks anyway, who fucking cares? If we're not a big club there are only three big clubs in this country. There's two oil money clubs. Then there's us. I look down at everyone personally because I'm a geordie supporting my local club in the best city in England, with the best people in England. Do I really believe all that? No, I KNOW all that. Fuckin sheep shaggin Yorkshire cunts. The only thing I can tell you about Sheffield that's good is that there was a film made there in 1983 called "Threads" about a nuclear war. The nukes hit Sheffield and some woman pissed hersel in her jeans.

I only ever used to drive past the place on the M1. There were those horrible big power station chimneys which they've knocked down now. I always used to think to myself "am I fuck stopping here", maybe its nicer than it looks from the motorway

 I never fucking understand fan bases like that, it must simply be jealousy because to scream that we're nothing but mid-table bilge despite them being exactly that in a division below us is pointless. As Stevie basically said if we're a nothing tin pot club what the fuck does that make them? They're closer in terms of talent to sides like Northampton than us, if we don't comfortably dispatch Lower League yo-yo clubs like them 2-0 I'll be disappointed.

It's also class to see a post like this:

"Newcastle have been as succesful as the pigs over the last 90 years and won phook all
Their fans seem to think they're world beaters though
They're top of the list of most deluded fans in England "
Anymore boring stereotypes this winnet wants to trot out? 'They'd rather lose 4-3 than win 1-0' maybe? I'm sure he typed that out from his council house while listening to the Arctic Monkeys the fucking huckle.

I suppose I can see why they wouldn't be massively excited about the draw (other than to get out of their home town shit hole). We're never going to be as glamerous as Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea etc and with the other ties it's not likely to be televised and they're likely to get beat. If I was them I wouldn't be thrilled with it either.

Anyone get to the game last night? I had the bairn so I missed it but in addition to Thauvin obviously making a big impression, I've heard that Perez was excellent and whenever he got the ball SDJ was a class apart. Even considering the quality of the oppostion that's good to hear if correct.

Thauvin seems to be capable of providing the kind of quality the likes of Cisse, De Jong and hopefully Mitrovic can thrive on. Looks promising, just have to hope Thauvin and Mitro can build on the positive start here and De Jong can stay fit.

We are now 4th biggest stadium. Man. City added 6000 seats this season taking their capacity to 55000. They had just over 54k for Chelsea. They have further plans to increase to 61k by 2017.

Pertinent as ever

Mitrovic on for Thauvin, who departs with a goal and three assists. Even though it's only Northampton, it's still pretty fucking good.

Even thought it's Northampton we've not won a cup game by 3 goals in 5 and a half years. And we've played some utter shit. So while we can't judge his Premier league credentials on the back of this, he's miles better than any fucker we've had passing crosses to the first defenders head... or trying to run past 7 men to score himself.

;)

Looking forward to seeing Thauvin vs Watford and West Ham, I think they're the kind of side where he'll be the difference.

That he did that a few times over 4 years was hugely entertaining.

That he only once provided more assists in an entire season than Thauvin did in 1 game last night is his downfall.

That and his inability to go past a Greggs without hankering for a YumYum. :(

He came so close to greatness.

Sheffield's a class town. Or at least it was the last time I was there about a decade ago.

I didn't even know the match was on. I've watched so little football so far this season but it all sounds surprisingly positive regarding the new players
