The Fish 10977
You are clearly a clown to think he is a great player. Is this where you list other great players which are based on some arbitrary rationale in your head that somehow precludes Wayne Rooney from being considered a great player by anyone else's arbitrary rationale? Put it this way, he's England's top goal scorer, 3rd highest goal scorer in the Premier League, 4th highest maker of assists in the Premier League and so on and so forth. It's just plain petty to dismiss him as a great, imo

Dr Gloom 22191
Rooney has scored 6 goals in total in majo tournaments. Lineker scored six in Mexico 86 iirc. that's the difference innit. lineker did his job in every major tournament he went to. rooney, for all the goals he's score in qualifying and friendlies, has failed to turn up for every tournament since euro 2004. The Fish 10977
It's a stupid argument, but end of the day the man has scored more goals for England than anybody else. He's scored more Goals in the league than all but 2 players and has provided more goals in the top flight than all but 3. He's been played as the point of a pretty shit spear and is blamed for England's malaise because his potential seemed vast. He's much better than people give him credit for, as was Beckham. He scored as many at major tournaments as Bobby Charlton did Pele was a great player.Maradona was a great.Puskas was a great.Cafu was a great. It's like talking to a fungal foot infection. ewerk 31237
what was his excuse in brazil? He was shit, along with most of the rest of the England team. Messi has failed to show up at most major tournaments but there's still no argument that he's a great player.

The Fish 10977
So basically he's been shit for England when it's mattered but it's never been his fault. The same with Beckham then. Beckham single handedly dragged England to 2002 World Cup. Not that that mattered. Oh and if being shit for England means scoring more goals for England than anyone else (including Own Goal who's had a 143yr career) then I hope we see many more players being shit for England in the future. Well, by essembee's rationale, every player that has ever pulled on an England shirt has been shit. Given, y'know none of them have scored more than Rooney, who is shit...
