It is slightly concerning that we appear to be missing a defence.

Currently on the books we have Colocinni, Mbemba, Lascelles, Taylor and Williamson. I don't think we're missing one, I just think we've not been playing them all in the pre-season training games.

I'd love another centre back in and if Williamson and Colo do leave I reckon we'll see replacements.

Colo - Could be a spent force in the PL

Mbemba - Hoping for the best but obviously unproven in PL

Lascelles - Wasn't tearing up any trees in the Championship, I have a bad feeling this was a convenient deal due to Forest's financial troubles

Taylor - Average defender but will miss at least 15 games through injury

Williamson - Nuff said

So while we have numbers in the squad I wouldn't be terribly confident in any of them at this moment. I'm actually hoping that Dummet might turn out to be half decent at CB. Looking at our options in the fullback positions is even scarier.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think we're solid at the back, I'm just not going to panic about the defence when we haven't seen it yet. We've even played Ferguson at Centre back.

Last night's result isn't of any concern at all given the team that was put out. I suppose you could be worried about Lascelles but playing in that defence he's not going to be at his best.

The real concern for me is that we've never managed to put out close to what we would think of as a proper team in any game so far, particularly at the back. The best defences we've managed to put out have all contained Williamson. Yes that's Mike (the worst centreback ever to play more than ten games for us) Williamson. It shows what an absolute shambles this preseason has been. I'm certainly not going get carried away with the results or the fact that our new striker who's had one training session so far didn't manage to score, but the complete lack of organisation at the club continues to alarm. The games that have been arranged have been a joke and the fact that we're still waiting for defensive recruitments and having to play Williamson (and may well have to play him against Southampton) is nothing short of pathetic.

Wouldn't be surprised if the 1st team were spending training sessions playing together and these games are just being used as leg-stretchers for the squad.

Whipping in the crosses is all about the element of surprise. And whipping. But mostly it's about surprising and stuff, so imagine the shock when Lil Shane starts whipping them in from centre back. Everyone in the opposition is like, 'I fought Lil Shane whipped in a cross like once out of every three games from the wing'. But Schteve has identified Lil Shane's ability to whip in 1-3 of a cross each match just as effectively from centre back. Magical stuff.

Start him and Janmaat (our top assist-maker last season) at centre back and thoroughly confuse the opposition!

You're onto something here.
