David Kelly 1280
2 reds in 34 games for a "lunatic" isn't that bad to be honest. Would people consider Saido Mane to be a mentalist? He had 4 yellows (two in 1 game) and a straight red. I think the game against Spurs was his last chance to prove himself to the fans, the staff and maybe himself. The moment got to him as did the needling from the Spurs' players, but on the whole I think his discipline isn't too much of a concern. If he can channel that aggression and shithousery into a more Diego Costa flavour he'll be fine. He'd been fine since the sending off against Arsenal but you still have to worry about a 21 year old striker who has been sent off five times already. He's not a defender having to do a last ditch tackle, his sendings off seem to be for going over the top when he's lost the plot. You could argue his first dismissal for us was harsh (I certainly thought it was) but you could also argue both were for similar dangerous challenges. And you could see he'd clearly went mental on Sunday. I'm not saying he can't sort it out but he does need to sort it or whoever his manager is, they're not going to be able to trust him at important times. Christmas Tree 4920
I'm more worried about his poor performance in front of goal than his discipline. Regardless, he's not available for the first four games by which time Rafa should have his first choice 11 up and running.

Oh he'll always have the devil in him, but he's kept a lid on it for the overwhelming majority of games. One 100% red, an orange and four yellows doesn't seem like a massive problem to me. Thought it was hypocritical of Shearer to have such a pop at him mind
The Fish 11076
How many did he miss? You're a putz. Best shot accuracy of our strikers, 2nd highest goal scorer in a poor side behind the dutch player of the year, more goals than Iheanacho(sp?) who people are raving about, as many goals from open play as Troy Deeney... Thought it was hypocritical of Shearer to have such a pop at him mind Of course Shearer was agressive and could go over the top but he didn't have a record like Mitro and he's not playing now so it's not relevant. The thing that concerns me is the type of sendings off he's getting. I don't know what his previous ones were but the two last season were very similar both within one season. That's too much and no team wants a player who's going to be banned for six or seven matches a season. He didn't react well to be sent off this time either which is another concern. I only think it's relevant when Shearer is demonising the lad. I'd be the same if I'd heard Souness say anything. It's hypocritical and honestly if it had been a tackle on a foreigner instead of England's right back I don't think Match of the Day would have been quite so up in arms about it. re the banning, we've agreed that one of the red cards was harsh, so that would have been 1 3 match ban for the tackle in the Spurs game and nothing else. He needs to reign it in, but I honestly don't think it's the problem people are making out. He's no more a psychopath than Costa, he just hasn't learnt to direct the shithousery
StoneColdStephenIreland 74
Tbh at least he's getting goalscoring opportunities unlike Cisse. I'd rather him get them and miss then none at all and that composure in front of goal will come in time.

He's no more a psychopath than Costa, he just hasn't learnt to direct the shithousery There is a hipocracy in what Shearer is saying but I say it's not relevant because I'm only concerned with what Mitro does not what people say about him. Although on the other hand, if pundits keep saying it, it's going to stay in the referee's mind more and they're more likely to be harsh with him. In the championship where we'll get less coverage it's not going to be as big an issue though. Whilst I still think his first red was harsh, I can see why it was given and this later one being a worse version of a similar challenge makes it look worse. I think the refs will take that into consideration next term. But I don't think there's that much of a deal being made of it. It's obviously a talking point for us but it's not been plastered all over the press like Costa's incidents have been (the fact that it was last day of the season, there was no injury and it didn't effect the result helped there) and I don't think anyone is getting overly excited. But you can't ignore it.

Dickie 0
I'm not bothered about his supposed aggression - he's kept it mostly in check this season. I like to see players with a bit of edge, and the best ones mostly have it, especially when they're young. If anything I'd say he's been a bit too soft - for the size of him he gets pushed off the ball very easily, and I'd be slightly more worried about the fact that over the course of the season he didn't look to be getting the hang of the league any better, either in terms of hold up play or taking his chances. However he's still young and has been playing in a struggling side, so I think we should all give him more time. I've said before that taller strikers often come into their prime a bit later than the quicker, more technical ones, so hopefully he's still got plenty of time to develop, especially if he gets a good manager like Rafa. Having said all that, the tackle on Sun was terrible - I hope we don't see any more of them, and the less said about the embarrassing histrionics afterwards the better. essembeeofsunderland 811
It might hit him hard if Rafa brings in a goalscorer and he finds himself on the bench for a couple of months. The media are on his case now.Danny ' the wanker' Murphy wouldn't have been so critical if an English player had made the challenge.'It was naughty' is his usual comment to such tackles if say Rooney or Gerrard had made it. toonotl 3289
Is Danny Murphy's nickname less topical than the usual essembee fare, or has Murph been caught masturbating in public without me hearing about it?
