Chris Morgan has said he's hoping for a bumper crowd when Sheffield United host Newcastle in his testimonial this summer.

The game will take place on Sunday July 26, carrying a 1pm kick off and the game will hopefully raise good funds for Weston Park Hospital, Bluebell Wood Hospice and the Gary Speed Trust Fund.

'First and foremost I must express my thanks to my good friend John Carver and Newcastle MD Lee Charnley, who were true to their word and helped considerably in facilitating the game. It is unfortunate that JC won't be at the game in a working capacity, but Newcastle are well known for travelling in numbers and hopefully they will help create a wonderful occasion.'

The game will be new manager Nigel Adkins first Bramall Lane game as gaffer so Morgan knows it should be a great atmosphere on the day.

'It will be the new manager's first taste of Bramall Lane in the home dugout and I am sure our supporters will want to come and see the lads in action before the league season kicks off a couple of weeks later. I wanted the game to be against good opposition, but also against a team that will help create a memorable day and help raise monies for the three chosen charities, firstly I want it to be a day to remember, but equally we want to raise funds for good causes.'

Wonder how people pick the opposition for their testimonial? Morgan alludes to a friendship with Carver, but I can't think of any other reason he'd pick Newcastle. Other than the numbers we generally take?
