Tiote, Taylor, de Jong, those players at Nottingham, Marveaux (?) 6 new signings, Haidara etc

Plenty there for a decent coach to work with and given how close Carr and McClaren are meant to be, I'm sure he'll have more input into the type of player who we go after going forward.

Remi Garde, once considered an option by United, is not being considered this time around after failing to impress during a first round of interviews in January when it was felt that the job may be beyond him.

Fucking hell.

Clearly Garde wouldn't work under the conditions nufc require and has been more professional about the disjoint in ambition than the club have.

"Failing to impress" = "won't readily bend over and gratefully take it balls deep"

 pretty much.

so remi, will you be prepared to be the fall guy for the regime in front of the media when we don't give you any money to spend, or buy the players who you want? no? ok, well close the door on your way out.

you've reined in the verbosity a bit recently, fair play. i don't miss those mako-style monologues you used to serve up at regular intervals i see you fail to deny the pompous language or posting frequency accusations though.

No, that's the point, he wasn't

Why would he interview for the job if he didn't want it?

I understand why Vieira would float his name around the position, but what has Garde got to gain from sitting for an interview?

The word you were scrabbling for was "accurate".

Is it not a serious accusation to claim in print that Newcastle offered McClaren the job without the permission of Derby too?

How so? It goes on all the time. I doubt they sent him off the paperwork, informal approaches are made all the time for players and managers.

Seems like he was interested in the job :scratchchin:

it seems to me that he wasn't interested in working for the clowns that run the show, or that they weren't prepared to let him run the club the way he would have wanted to, as predicted.

either that or he didn't give as impressive an interview as carver managed.

The FA fine clubs hundreds of thousands of pounds for it if it's brazen though.

I don't believe we offered him the job. Simply because we would have had to pay compensation if we did.

We just unsettled him and his club. Now we'll get him on the cheap... the first time we actually offer him the job for real.

Reckon it's more the bold bit than anything else, which is the source of frustration because it shows he's interested in the club and the "project", but the arseholes ruining our club succeeded in pushing him (and I'm going to presume others) away.

Newcastle as an institution are an interesting proposition. With the stadium, the support, the Premier League status and the wealth.

Doubt anyone would disagree with that.

Any interest that a competent and serious manager had though is completely shattered when they sit down with those in charge and get told

Players will be sold without replacement

Players will not necessarily be replaced in the following window or the one after that.

You don't have a say on who we go after

We don't pay more than £15m for a player and don't buy anyone over 26.

It's a breach of contract for you to talk negatively about any of these conditions.

Your wages will be £2m less than the league average.

Trust us though, we've got your back.

You've been saying no coach worth their salt would be interested in Newcastle United.

I'm saying there's fucking loads that would, but Charnley is putting up too many obstacles.
