and yet we can only dream of signing a player of defoe's quality. he's just what they need if you ask me.

? Janmaat is better than Defoe, so was Cabaye, so is Sissoko...

 For that comment but also at the mackem's desperation with Defoe. You'd understand paying a premium for a player who has been scoring goals in the league this season but he's been titting about in Canada for a year. Reckon people saying "he'll score enough to keep them up" are ignoring that Sunderland are fucking woeful at creating chances for the strikers they actually have, without adding Defoe into the mix.

Yup. It could be that his cleverness around the box will make it easier for Johnson & Laarson to fashion chances, but I think it's more likely that Defoe won't be that bothered about busting a gut to find a yard.

Are they trying to recreate Quinn & Phillips with Wickham & Defoe?

I think he's always had the ability to create a goal for himself. I'm not talking about dribbling past players but when he receives an average ball to his feet and manages a quick turn or something that get's him enough space to get a shot away. I remember him scoring one like that up here a few seasons ago. He's not like Bent who needs them on a plate.

soooooo

mid January and no new signings and no manager. That Lee Charnley's been busy.

 Maybe he's off on holiday, the last bloke in his role used to take a nice break around this time of the year.

I guess he's got a lot on his plate, what with handling enquiries about our players. No new contract for Rolando Aarons yet either. Poor lamb must be exhausted!

Aye must be tough answering phones all day, leaves little time to listen to what Alan Carr's dad has to say about some player he thinks will be good for us.

In fairness, we have got a fucking massive injury list, to the point where I'd rather see a new manager come in, get them back and work with them because there's good options amongst them. We're in desperate need of a centre half though since Carver seems allergic to playing Dummett there, despite him clearly being better at CB. And Dummett at CB is by no means the long term answer, obviously.

I think Pardew Carver and Stone have a case to answer as far as injuries are concerned. It cant be a coincidence we regularly have the worst injury list in the league. I would hope the new manager will make a big difference in that area. Unless its Carver of course.

I'm convinced that our managers just make them run around a lot in training tbh. Load of pulls and strains on that list. Pardew is to blame for rushing the likes of Abeid, De Jong and Aarons back too

Yup, they definitely rush players back and have done for a while. We've also got a staff that looks like they'd have an outdated view on training techniques with people like Carver and Stone running the show, so I definitely agree they'll be running like a cross country team tbh.
