I actually like partiality when it's positive, there's something of the uglier side of partisan support in the other lot. Like when you see Merson, Le Tissier, Thompson et al being negative about Newcastle (or whoever) as if that somehow affirms their support of Southampton, Villa/Arsenal, or Liverpool, that rankles. When Merson said Ba should join Villa because "they're a bigger" club, or when Le Tissier can't muster a nice word about us when watching our game. To be honest Thompson is the most overt "fan", but the least anti-Newcastle amongst the lot. Maybe it comes from being Northern? Stelling is gleeful when Hartlepool score, but it's endearing, it's nice to see someone celebrate when it doesn't impact on your team at all. Stelling's like Lineker in that regard; because they're likeable people, you don't mind their... more innocent~honest(?) joy when their club does well.
