OTF 7295
Abeid was one of our better players though his set pieces and shots were woeful. Gouffran has been poor for a while now, but on that scale this was an improvement. Getting into the right place and challenging allowed Cisse to score. Perez was having a poor game before he was subbed. Elliot was weak for their goal, it was in prime saving position, but he had no idea where the ball was. One side of the argument says he couldn't see the ball, the other says as a keeper you have to move to position yourself to see the ball. Once again missing Coloccini at the back to help play the ball out. Ameobi and Haidara are forming a reasonable union down our left side. We need a forward who will attack the front post as that's where most of their whipped in crossed end up going. Cabella was strong off the bench and should have earned himself a run in the side. Not great timing considering who we're coming up against, but the main positive is he appears to have adjusted to the league. All in all we were flat. I used to like Gouffran, but he's simply not contributing to the team what so ever. Re: Perez, he was always going to struggle yesterday, the way Pardew set us up meant the scraps he's been feeding off were even more miserly. Andrew 4753
Gouffran was crap, missing connection with a cross that happened to allow another player to score isn't a good point in a performance imo.

Re: Perez, he was always going to struggle yesterday, the way Pardew set us up meant the scraps he's been feeding off were even more miserly. It's a bit generous, but it's ultimately true. Gouffran needs some time out and can hopefully regain some of the attacking play that he had when he first joined. Without that he's useless. I'd say a large part of his decline is the amount of ground he covers, probably at the insistence of Pardew, in useless closing down. For it to be effective the whole team needs to press and this never happens. The net result for Gouffran is that when he gets the ball he doesn't have the energy to take on the defense. The sooner Aarons is available the better, he seems more consistent than Ameobi. Cabella will hopefully cement a spot.

David Kelly 1245
I'm pretty happy with the result last night. Any point away from home in the premier league is a good point. Yes you could say that they are there for the taking and we should have made more of the oppertunity but the truth is we aren't that good a team. We are relying on quite a few youngsters (Dummett, Abeid, Sammy, Perez) and we aren't going to get consistency from players like that at this stage. We were also missing the two players that you expect to be our main central driving force in SDJ and Sissoko as well as our keeper and captain. My only real complaints are that it looks like Williamson was far from fully fit so really Taylor (whos been far more impressive than him this season anyway) should have started and Gouffran shouldn't be in the team. It didn't surprise me at all that Pardew went with him though given that Cisse and Perez both started but when we had Tiote and Abeid sitting pretty deep I really don't see why he feels the need to have someone defending from the right wing position. Cabella showed in the second half how we really should have attacked them from the start. I suppose that's where most people's disapointment comes from but like I said, any point away from home in this division is a good one for where we are at as a team this season. StoneColdStephenIreland 74
Still find it baffling that in 2 winnable games he sets out negatively, which is exactly the reason why weve been so poor this year. He just can't adapt his tactics and resorts back to football that brings us no success. Bringing in Gouffran for these past 2 games is stupidly amazing, especially since it changed winning tactics for losing tactics.
Tooj 17
Not sure why you think it's baffling, he is reverting to the style he has shown throughout his time managing.
Howay 12496
Yup and Cabella is his new whipping boy, the lad played well against QPR and has had to come on as a sub since. He was our best player by a long way last night and then I see the quote Andrew posts of Pardew mentioning the lads weight ffs, fuck off to Stoke Alan you utter prick. Cabella works hard closing down all over the field from what I've seen and he has more ability than any of the other players on the field last night. Persisting with Gouffran just sums Pardew up, I fully expect he will start him again next match after 2 utterly dross performances. He's not even good defensively. We're also crying out for a centre back as without Colo we see Williamson and Dummett both challenging, and failing to stop, Ings from making the knockdown while ignoring Boyd (Tiote also should have been covering the runner from midfield). I'm not at all pleased with a point, it's Burnley ffs. Pardews nonsense about taking risks trying to fucking attack teams shouldn't be seen in such a negative light. Dr Gloom 21924
Pardew is just a very ordinary, cautious manager. This has never changed, despite the odd good runs and the occasional flirtation with relegation. He's a big standard mid table manager. We'll finish among the also rans more often than not under the cunt, which is a perfect fit for Ashley.

We had the two anomalies in the year we finished 5th and the season we almost went down. I'd say 10-12th is his natural home. He's Ashley's wet dream basically.
