The Fish 10963
Who is/was your most under-rated Newcastle player during your time?
aimaad22 4222
Tough one that. Given? Solano? Coloccini during the 11-12 season was outstanding. All 3 deserve more credit than they get imo. Speaking not in terms of nufc fans but the general football world. Overall I'd say Given, he was the best shot stopper in the league for a 3-4 year period. Alex 35583
I think Robbie Elliot was a very underrated player in his first spell at the club. Solid full-back who could play a bit and also could do a job in the centre of defence and in midfield. Never quite the same after breaking his leg as soon as he went to Bolton. PaddockLad 17653
Scott Sellars. Mark McGee, made all the space that Mickey Quinn scored his goals in See also Paul Goddard who almost single handedly kept us up in 87.
Alex 35583
Made similar mention of Sellars a few weeks back http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/26952-nufc-pictures-from-days-of-old/?p=1304228 quality player
essembeeofsunderland 811
Irving Nattrass. Whether at right back, left back or central defence,he would stroll through games marking his man out of the game.

David Kelly 1260
Sellars, Mcghee and Goddard are great shouts. Others I would include would be David Kelly (obviously), Gavin Peacock, Glenn Roeder. Possibly Beresford too. I think people have already forgotten just how good he was. Gemmill 46030
Overrated - Ben Arfa ( ) Absolute nonsense, he'll end up somewhere like Milan when he leaves us. ........He did what? He went where?
PaddockLad 17653
Aye Bez had Psycho and Winterburn in front of him, hardly a sniff of a cap with those two around, suppose LeSaux just made things worse too. Great attacking fullback, definetly not a wingback
David Kelly 1260
When you think about it, England has produced some really good leftbacks over the last 20 - 30 years. Obviously we've not been so strong on the right as shown by the fact that Glen Johnson has over 50 caps!

David Kelly 1260
acuna mccreery beresford guthrie sellars shola Would say Acuna and Guthrie are way overrated by some personally. I did think about saying McCreery myself but I think he's more forgotten than underrated. But the same could no doubt be said about some of the ones I did say. Tooj 17
Kevin Gallacher did a very good job for us under the circumstances btw. Could probably put him in that bracket.
Dr Gloom 22148
sibierksi was class for us in the end. i remember this board almost going into meltdown when he was our last minute signing one transfer window so we wasn't exactly rated when he arrived. did a good job for us though tbf and bagged a few in europe iifc. Hardly class like. yeah, class was the wrong word. nowhere near as shit as we all feared would have been a better way to put it. legend in the uefa cup against some top top teams. Dr Gloom 22148
Was he fuck class for us. Played alright in Europe but waa dreadful in the Premiership for the most part. yes, you're right of course, he wasn't class. but then no one in that team was really. it was kind of the beginning of the end of what had been a canny few years. but he was definitely underrated because he ended up scoring a few goals, something no one really saw coming, we all thought he was that shit.
