We're down to one fit centre half at the minute, however when Williamson and Taylor return one of them is likely to walk straight back into the team. Does Dummett deserve to keep his place at CB given his recent performances?

Dummet looks a born centre half to me. But there again so did Williamson at old Trafford just under a year ago so let's not start sucking each other's dicks about him just yet. He looks better beside Colo than the other two atm so for me he stays , which allows the also very canny Haidara a run at left back too :good:

I think Taylor was doing well alongside Colo before his injury so I'd probably put him in. Dummett has don't really well in a couple of games but he was also awful there last season. Maybe he just needed a few games to get used to it and he will turn into a decent player for us or maybe he's just a decent run when we've been doing well (he's also looked decent at leftback lately whereas he'd been fucking dreadful before) but I don't really see any reason to put him in instead of a centreback who'd been doing well.

If it's a choice between him and Williamson however I'd give him a chance since Willo has been shite all year (well all his career here really).

Does he see himself as a centre half in the future? Does our coaching team? If yes then I'd stick with him at CB since we've got Haidara and Santon. Willamson will always be below average at best and I think its about time Taylor did something massively stupid again.

A couple of games is too early to judge of course. But given what our options are at CB and the cover we've got for LB it make sense to give him a few games there and see how he does.

That para is supposed to be read in connection with the previous one :D

You could look at some of the things Williamson and Taylor have done on the field and think they're not footballers at all let alone premier league one.

I'm not saying he's turboshite - he'll be ok but I wouldn't have him down as a center back.

For what it's worth I don't think he's really been tested when playing there this past couple of games.

I dunno, I think he's better as a Centre Half than as a modern fullback. He hasn't the pace to drive past, nor the skill on the ball to trick his way past someone. He has decent strengh, he's decent in the tackle and his positioning is improving. I'd not have him first choice, but he is, in my opinion, better suited to the centre back role than the modern, more complete, footballer that is required for fullbackery.

I'd be worried about us at set pieces though, with him and Colo in there. Teams like Chelsea will give us a nightmare. Not that we're great at set pieces as it is.

Don't think he's any more suspect at defending set pieces than the other two Stooges

I'm not seeing it like - I reckon he gets a lot of unfair stick at full back too for what it's worth.

Whilst Haidara gets a lot of fuss with little to back it up thus far, both canny enough players but it's a total Pardewism that we're even having to debate it I suppose.
