Vince played in the big bash for one of the Sydney teams last time around.  Surely you'd heard of Chris Woakes? He's played 18 tests and 66 ODI's.

Not a huge fan of 20/20, I am a traditionalist at heart and not into the Big Bash. Chris Woakes rings a bell in the ODI's though now that I think about it.

Woakes is a vastly improved cricketer in both forms of the games (has three wickets so far today) and is bordering on allrounder status these days.

Since Australia last won in England in 2001 (:lol::lol: ) every series bar one has been won by the home team.

That's OK, I understand. Just thought England were in better shape. I understand the pessimism now though, many haven't played here.

Sounds like he is a senior player now.

He is pretty much.  He got an injury in the champions trophy so missed most of the summer and is only really coming back to fitness now.  He would be the most vulnerable of our seamers compared to Anderson and Broad (and Stokes but more down to his batting) but I'd still expect him to play most if not all of the matches.

The problem with those four as an attack is they work great in English conditions when it swings around corners, but where is the wild card bowler with a bit of extra pace to exploit the bounce you get on Aussie wickets? Looks a bit one dimensional to me over there, I'm afraid, which makes the exclusion of wood all the more puzzling. Even if he only plays three of the five tests, he had to be worth a punt?

What happened to plunkett? He can hit 90mph. I see he's playing in the ODI but he seems to have been written off at rest level.

Dont know much about Overton. Sounds like he's another all rounder who bowls medium fast

loved that series down under when chris tremlett came out of nowhere and scared the shit out of the aussie attack. he was exactly the kind of brute of a fast bowler we need now. shame he was made of glass

Doesn't look like you have one. You need at least one bowler that can do 140km+ and you need openers that can absorb the pressure that we will unleash at 140kn+.

Memories are great. Do you remember Shane Warne? Mike Gatting will never forget.

we don't in the squad the selectors unveiled today. whether one is flown out after we lose the first test, who knows. it's the main reason why i think we'll lose convincingly. there are enough quality batters to hide the holes in our top 5, but bowlers win matches and i fear our attack, which is excellent in home conditions will struggle to take 20 wickets as quickly as your lot down under.

So, paceman you would have considered over?

wood, plunkett?

maybe even finn ... even though the selectors did their best to destroy his confidence, and he is a confidence player. he took 8 wickets in a county game the other day.

there's an element of takinga punt with any of those but they can all bowl up at 90 mph, unlike the bowlers in the squad the selectors have named.

I don't propose to know your team for a moment Gloomy, it is a shell of what I am familiar with, but there are question marks with your top order batsmen.

yes, we still don't know our best number 2, 3 and 5 but we've got enough destructive players in our middle and lower order to dig us out of holes and make scores (even though they're still prone to the odd collapse)

but looking at the squad, it's the bowling selections i'm more concerned with. don't get me wrong. we've got great bowlers, but i'm not sure the mix the selectors have gone for is right for a tour to oz.

we'll see

It sounds so grim that we won't lose a match.
