Emre 0
Newcastle face stiff competition from European clubs for the signature of Egyptian international striker Amr Zaki. Zaki, who is currently on international duty has reportedly interested Bordeaux, Nantes, Bayer Leverkusen and one other as yet unamed English side. The ENPPI forward who has scored 11 goals in just 12 international starts told egyptianplayers.com, ""There is an English agency that has spoken to ENPPI and my club has said to them, just today, that they have the permission to take on my case. "In four days they (the agency) will give the club two offers from England. One of them is from Newcastle United and is worth £1.3 million or more." Zaki who should have little difficulties in securing a work permit was recently voted third in the Egyptian Player of the Year award and hinted that a move could be completed before the Affrican Cup of Nations begins. "It is possible that the English offer can be confirmed, inshallah (God willing), before the tournament. "However, the English company is trying to bring the highest fee," he added. a couple of sites running the story... anyone heard of him?
Gemmill 48658
anyone heard of him? 81268[/snapback] Nope. So I doubt the opposition for his signature is all that strong.
David Kelly 1328
This would be typical of us. We won't shell out the 2 million Charlton want for Murphy (a proven premiership player) but we will pay more than half of that for someone no one has ever heard of and who unlikely to settle here.
