Andrew 4721
Aye driving. Parking however just usually involves chucking the hazard lights on. I always knew you were a complete bastard
Andrew 4721
Proper used to mine now, it's a great piece of kit. Foolproof. Rank how I failed my second test on parking (30 seconds in) and now I'm parking quicker than Ace Ventura. Did they make you drive the rest of it anyway as well? Tom 14011
I wanted to tbh Seems pointless paying £100 + and coming away with nothing at all.
Howay 12496
I wanted to tbh Seems pointless paying £100 + and coming away with nothing at all. A lad I went to school with hit the curb going back into the test centre in Blyth at the end of his test, the bloke give him a major for it. I think he only had 3 minors up to that point in all iirc. Tom 14011
They've failed people in Durham for going over 30mph into the industrial estate where the test centre is

The Fish 10779
Mate of mine failed within 30 seconds of starting. He didn't put his belt on
Andrew 4721
I locked the keys inside the car during the bit looking under the bonnet on my first test.
TheGingerQuiff 2412
I was at a junction waiting to pull out into slow moving traffic. Bloke flashes me out. Failed, apparently shouldn't trust someone flashing you out. I'd have literally been sat there for an hour by that logic
Kid Dynamite 7009
I drove on the wrong side of the road on my first test. Going past the Pitz in Gateshead I though it was a 2 lane one way road

strawb 4188
Anyone have any experience with the old style minis? Wanted one since I was a kid and now seems like the right time, can pick up a circa 2000 version for about 5-7k but my old man reckons they are pigs. I would be using it everyday but it's only me and the dog for the foreseeable so no kids etc. The furthest I drive is back to the NE really so mainly city miles. Is it likely to be a pain in the ring and cost me fortunes to keep running?
Park Life 71
I've had a few old mini's. Never go wrong and easy to fix. Rust issues and water getting in here and there are BAU.
strawb 4188
Cheers both. I have been looking on piston heads ant and the lower mileage ones in decent nick seem to start around 5k. I probably do maximum 70-100 miles in a standard week so it's not like I'm going to be living in it. By "old" mini I mean the old shape. Did bmw make those shape circa 2000? I drive a fucking Kia atm and hate it but I could probably get 5/6k for it so it would basically be changing my current shit heap for a car I've always wanted. Christmas Tree 4711
I had an old mini in 95. Absolute pig is correct. Floors / sub frames rot very easily and no fun to drive all the time. Not to mention they are death traps compared to moser day cars. My dream old car was a stag. Dr Gloom 21847
Old minis are great, as long as you don't mind four gears, a car that will vibrate and whine as it labours to reach 60 miles an hour, putting your back out in the process. i had one in the days before speed bumps and it was bloody awful. strawb 4188
Probably need to take one for a test drive by the sounds of it. Cheers all.
Gemmill 44498
Just get something boring and reliable - a Ford or something. You don't need to be getting the car equivalent of what your dog was like 6 months ago.
Kid Dynamite 7009
An old mini is a car to get out and drive for an hour on a Sunday morning. If it's your main car I would give you 3 months before your sick of fixing broken bits on it and want to sell it on.
Alex 34913
They're a good laugh but they're not exactly practical. Plus any decent collision is likely to see the engine being where your legs used to be. My lass's family used to go to Devon and the Scottish Highlands all the time on their hols in one. Her dad is about 6ft 2. So that was him, her mam, my lass, her brother and the dog (English Bull Terrier) plus all the luggage for a week.
Monkeys Fist 42129
My first car was a Mini. Imagine driving on a motorway in a roller skate with a roof. I also managed to 720 it down Matthew Bank, and stay in lane
trophyshy 7073
I just scrapped a mini, it's clutch went twice in less than three years and the seats were all fucked up. I'm buying a new car now, what a ballache it is. Are there people you can pay to sort all this shit out in life?
