Kid Dynamite 7029
Regardless of who their preferred media partners are they just ban anyone asking difficult questions. The fans are no worse off either way
Christmas Tree 4725
I'd rather the club faced at least some journalists who weren't in their pocket. Everyone has access to pre match pressers and can ask away, this just relates to a bit extra access and the odd exclusive.

Not if they're banned. Our very own Black & White Knight Ryder had many of his questions shouted down by the (erstwhile?) Press biddy.

The Fish 10857
Only the telegraph is banned So? My point was that if the Mirror (say) have exclusive access as long as they pipe off Mike, and the others are banned, there's no real information coming out of the club. The Sun can fuck off trying to lecture people on what is and isn't damaging for the journalism industry. The fucking neck on them.

ChezGiven 0
I can see the club's logic on this. Just like one strong voice on a forum (alex) can convince the masses that a decent football man (Pardew) is a shit manager, a rogue journalist can turn the hordes who march through the turnstiles every game against the club. Gemmill 44882
I don't really understand why people care. I can't remember the last time anyone at any football club generated news that was worth reading.

ewerk 30611
Speaking to Press Gazette today, Coverdale revealed that The Sun was given special access to the club, but that this stopped when the newspaper turned down the chance to enter into a “commercial” arrangement with the club and Sports Direct, which shares the same owner, Mike Ashley. That's interesting. I do wonder whether the proposed access was for a fee that would go into the club's coffers or was it in return for free advertising for Sports Direct. Makom 0
Sad day indeed when The Sun comes across as holding the moral high ground over the club. Not sure who said it, but someone on the radio recently made the point that seeking to control the media is what cunts all around the world try to do. The stuff being reported might be shit, but it sure as hell isn't going to improve under this system. It really is bizarre though to see what the club thinks are commercial revenue streams. Makes you wonder what's next.

toonotl 2979
I don't think excluding certain media outlets has much effect on the message to be honest. Anyone that isn't aware of Ashley's scumbaggery by now will never learn so it's not like we need someone in there asking 'the real questions' for the good of the people or whatever. Kitman 2207
It's entirely possible that Charnley has actually been given fuck all money to finance Ashleys glorious new dawn. So Chumpley goes through the rigmarole of offering buttons for the likes of Austin, gets laughed at and then moves down the list until we get to cheap untested foreigners and loan deals or run out of time to "get them over the line". Or in other words business as usual.
toonotl 2979
Or in other words business as usual. Exactly. When buying players we're operating on a system of player valuation that is ten years out of date. Low balling everyone is simply not going to work unless we're going for a player (i) who no one else wants and (ii) their current club can't wait to get rid of them. essembeeofsunderland 811
Are the Sun not making arses of themselves by their anti-Ashley campaign.I wouldn't imagine most Sun readers give a fuck about Ashley/NUFC. If you had a number of businesses and the Sun starting digging the dirt on one of them, would you give them the ok to attend a press conference at another.I couldn't give a fuck if every media outlet was banned as long as we get it right on the pitch.
