Ashley is at least someone with some sort of business sense. I can't believe his business instincts having kicking in by now. Charnley seems to be someone who you wouldn't put in charge of organising a christmas party let alone run a multi milion pound company.

He hasn't got business sense when it comes to football, his appointments have been catastrophic. He has no idea how to run a footbal club, and surrounds himself with people who know even less.

He hasn't got football sense I'm in total agreement with that. But from a business sense he must know that what is happening at the moment isn't good for business and when that happens you have to make a change. He doesn't need to know anything about football to know that.

Think there's very few owners who do know anything about football. they might love the sport and feel a connection to the club, but there's just so many owners who get so many things very wrong.

I personally feel he's going to stay out of it. He will leave it the board ( even Steve)to decide what happens and will consult his PR. If Charnley wants to stick with McClaren I highly doubt that Ashley will step in, bloody hope I'm wrong though mate!

I would personally sack Steve, Charnley and Carr.

Bring in Moyes, if we go down let him have full control over transfers to bring us back up.

Never going to happen though

I don't know how he can fail to see that the set up he has put in place at the club is a spectacular failure. Charnley, Carr and McClaren clearly need to go. I'm begining to wonder which one of the three is the biggest problem.

I just dont understand how you can own a football club for nine years and not know how to run it. I can understand at first you can make mistakes but nine years fucking on and he's still hiring twats like Carr and Charnley.

That's good point. He came from outside of football but which club owners don't? Did Ambramovic have a history in football before Chelsea? Did John Hall before he bought us? They (and most others) managed to learn on the job and appoint decent people to run the day to day. But Ashley seems to have learned nothing and won't make the changes to his team that are blatently needed.

Lee Charnley January 2015

"We’ve had about 80 applications of people interested in the role. That’s people within football.

“Clearly a number of those can be easily discounted but what has been left is a good number of individuals who have different qualities, experience and strengths – some of those are willing and available to come now, others not until the summer.

“It’s not a case of someone getting the job because he’s a friend of a friend or he knows someone. It is a proper structured process which I believe will in the end give us the best individual for the job.

“I know that the individual who comes in will be credible and best suited for this role"
