Andrew 4857
Neither Chamberlain or Gibbs will serve any further ban for the incident. TheAn independent regulatory commission ruled that Gibbs' dismissal against Chelsea on Saturday for handball was a case of mistaken identity and transferred this to Oxlade-Chamberlain. The claim for wrongful dismissal in relation to Oxlade-Chamberlain was then upheld, meaning he will not serve any suspension. So basically, not only did he send off the wrong player but the offence wasn't a sending off in the first place. What does a ref have to do to get a punishment? Andrew 4857
Wrongful dismissal of AOC is the official reason, it was pointed out by a number of pundits/journos that the shot was going wide therefore it should've been a yellow. Obviously its also by way of apology to Arsenal/the players but still, he's got it wrong on just aout every count and still faces no action, its ridiculous. StoneColdStephenIreland 74
If it had happened to any other club outside the top 5-6 they'd have kept the red card.
David Kelly 1260
I think Dermott Gallacher was saying yesterday that the card can't be overturned because it wasn't something like a clear and obvious mistake that about the ball going wide. If that is the rules then he's right AOC shouldn't have got it recinded because he clearly thought the ball was going in or he wouldn't have dived full length to tip it wide so it's not a clear and obvious mistake. The ref justtifiably thought he stopped a goal. Clearly the FA are pandering to Arsenal for the cock up in sending the wrong man off. At least 60% of the teams in the league woudln't get that card overturned.
