TheGingerQuiff 2412
We're brimming with dross that we can't move on and it'll hinder us from making the progress we need to. Maybe that explains SMs comments about 3 transfer windows?

The Fish 10972
We're never, ever going to have a squad fit for purpose as long as Mike Ashley is at the helm so I can't understand why anyone is beating themselves up worrying about it. That's not to say am pessimistic about next season in any way, but as HF pointed out we spent 37mill last summer and didn't improve in any way shape or form. Try to enjoy the summer Fish.....winter is coming..... Honest to God I worry about you lot. These 3 signings aren't reason to be breaking out the bunting sure, but they're much more progressive than previous years, aren't they? It looks to me that we're buying a spine for McClaren's team and marry this to his quotes about these three windows and it's reasons to be hopeful? We've got rid of 2 of the biggest reasons we struggled so badly recently. The third we'll hopefully sell to Leeds for a couple of million and the biggest reason won't go anywhere til we win something, but for me, this window and his public address shows that we can affect him. I'd like another winger and another Centre Back, and some fringe players. I don't think that's out of the realms of possibility either. 3 signings in 3 weeks? The window is open until the end of August and while I'd want the players in asap, I'm not writing off the season just yet.

Maybe that explains SMs comments about 3 transfer windows? Yeah, also, I can't see any of the decent players we've got encouraging many bids after their performances (or lack thereof) last season even if the potential is in there (Sissoko, etc.). We'll still value them higher than people will be willing to match

We'll be lucky to give him away for free.

We'll be lucky to give him away for free. we'll do well to pay someone else to employ him The Mirror claims that Leeds are aiming to recruit three defenders this summer and that Williamson is one of their key targets alongside Gareth McAuley. While McAuley’s West Bromwich Albion contract is up next month and so he could move to Elland Road on a free transfer, Newcastle would demand a fee of around £1.5 million for Williamson. Alex 35614
Williamson is a good championship defender but even though he won't be on much here it'll be big money for a championship side. Would need to sell him low probably to offset the loss in wages via a decent signing on fee or something like that.
David Kelly 1260
I don't even think he's a good championship defender. He's no better than the likes of Cauldwell or Rammage.

David Kelly 1260
He was very good for us in the Championship I thought. I think it's his level.I disagree that he was very good in the championship. He was ok playing in a team that was walking that league and not getting put under much pressure. The championship might be his level (not convinced personally) but he won't be a good player there. David Kelly 1260
Aye, a bit like people like O'Shea at Man Utd.Aye that's why I'd always be worried about signing players from teams like that. We're never going to sign their best players and there's always the worry that the others are being made to look much better by the players around them. acrossthepond 878
I'll go on record as saying we won't sign Thauvin. We've been linked with him for something like three years and the bloke simply isn't interested. I'm not sure we're even interested. I think it's just hacks digging up this undying 'link' and going "need a few sentences about NUFC, let's throw something in about Thauvin" every six months or so.
