At the same time though, defenders are going to try to kick the shit out of him in this league. I can see both sides of this, as much as I want him to come good. If he plays regularly he'll probably be sent off at least twice this season.

we can't sell mitro like. the one thing that friday night exposed that we're lacking a striker with a physical presence when mitro is out - and you need on of them in this division.

I don't think he's as bad as some people make out. After his sending off against Arsenal (which I still think was hash), he never looked like getting sent off again until that final day. Obviously the fact that sending off came our of nowhere is a concern but the way some people talk you'd think he was going around kicking fuck out of people every week.

That Arsenal red and a couple of his yellows were reputation cards, imhtgo

I agree. I suppose that's a problem in itself though.

Hard to turn that around though, isn't it. Refs will look at his disciplinary record last season and expect him to be up for ructions, when a flouncy winger tumbles, clutching his face after a header, off goes Mitrovic and his reputation remains.

Best thing for him will be getting support and supply, then he won't get as frustrated and bored.

Striker as a back up for Mad Mitro?

i think we need someone who does a similar job to compete with him for a starting position. you need a striker that can give you a target in this division

I think Diame is the last midfielder we'll see come in this window. If we sign the 3 that Rafa seems to want I think a striker (of a Mitro ilk), winger and leftback are the likely positions. If we get a backup striker and starting wideman & leftback, I reckon we'll piss the league.

one thing i would say after watching friday's match is we need to play shelvey. the two defensive midfielders who pass the ball sideways is totally pointless when we're going to have to play most games on the front foot as teams surrender possesion to us and sit back. if benitex doesn't fancy shelvey's workrate we need someone similar - a aplayer who is at least prepared to pass the ball forwards

From what I've seen of Diame he looks like he wants to move the ball forward. He also as the physicality to boss a midfield. I'm not sure he has the range of passing Shelvey is supposed to have but then again I'm not sure Shelvey really does have that range. I've seen precious little of it in his time here. We certainly can't be playing a three of Hayden, Colback and Anita again though.

Shola was mostly injured, for a change

aye, but he still managed 10 goals from 18 games. that's the kind of ratio you want from a striker and he looked a beast till he got injured. i don't think he ever managed 10 goals in the PL in an entire season and then carroll picked up where he left off with 17 goals.

i reckon you need a player up front with a bit of a physical presence - even a bang average one like shola can do a job in the championship.

3 of those were in the first home game.

Nolan scored more from midfield.

But I agree with the physical presence, that's why selling Mitro would be ridiculous. For me he was finding his feet last year, he'll have a field day in the Championship. It's exactly what they need up top, him and either Gayle or Perez playing off him.

steep fee for a loan of a player with his experience like

After watching dummet on friday I'd happily pay twice that to keep the useless fucker out of the team
