He looked handy on a few occasions and very average on the others. We haven't seen nearly enough of him to make a proper judgement but if he's as good as you reckon then he would have played more. Colback is fairly average, rarely going to be terrible and rarely going to be great but right now I'll take that until the weaker areas of the team are addressed.

I wouldn't be fucking moving to Greece at the minute.

He did great on loan there a couple of seasons back, scored in the champions league?? If you're a footballer sometimes its as simple as being wanted by a club. At least he knows the club, hope he's as sure about the economic situation...

He does need addressing, he's playing a position that can make or break the team. Not that Abeid is the answer like.

So you don't think we should give McLaren any time to improve the players he inherited?....you're presumably talking about 3/4 new defenders?...how long do you want to give that to work?

We're a couple of injuries way from Taylor and Williamson at the back again so at least two would be good, yes. I don't fancy any coach could improve those two.

Aymen Abdennour wants away from Monaco. Despite his price tag which NUFC would never pay (£21m) would anyone on here take him?

Of course I'd take him. At the rumoured price (less than above) I'd say it would be more likely if he was a few years younger and hadn't attracted interest from more desirable destinations.

McClarens already got his excuses in early though "I'll need 3 windows to sort things". Sitting there hoping for 3/4 of a new team this August is a recipe for disappointment iyam.

At old Trafford well have a makeshift right back, a mediocre left back, a centre back with a fear of heights and another centre back finding his feet in a new league/country relying on the previously mentioned defensive teammates.

And that's without Williamson or Taylor.

Be interesting to see how we do against man u really, saw a bit last night and their first 2 league games.

Mata, Januzaj and Depay behind Rooney becomes really narrow as Mata drifts inside and Depay cuts in on his right.

Could be worth packing out the middle, use Taylor at right back (assuming hes fit) and play Tiote rather than Anita (assuming he is also fit)

Mitro, Perez, Sissoko and Gini as the front 4 letting us clear our lines to Mitrovic or counter with pace if we get a break.

Or the other, more likely, scenario...we get fucked.

Exactly. There's five centre halves at the club, we're not getting another one. As much as I think Coloccini is finished (and we need more height), he's played no pre-season and he and Mbemba may forge a good partnership in time. Why he's playing after no pre-season football is another question all together, mind. I'd say we need a left-back but Haidara may well improve over the course of the season.

Williamson and Taylor both OOC next summer. I can't see any further CB incomings or outgoings until then.

I think this is pretty accurate. I like Mbemba. He seems reliable. I think Colo was done last year. This year is definitely a year too far for him. Haidara could prove competent given a good run in the side. I think Haidara is in the side to play a simpler and less adventurous game than Janmaat. I think he's capable of performing well given a slightly limited scope.

A worry, for me, is that we have nothing in reserve to play fullback. There really isn't much to pick from in the squad outside of shoehorning in someone who is more suited to centre back.

So we've spent £50mil on a midfielder, winger, centre half and striker. Can't say I saw that coming. Whilst we still look a little light on quality at CB and LB I think we've got to admit it's been a pretty successful transfer window. Credit where it's due. No 'stars' sold yet either

I'll go on record as saying we won't sign Thauvin. We've been linked with him for something like three years and the bloke simply isn't interested. I'm not sure we're even interested. I think it's just hacks digging up this undying 'link' and going "need a few sentences about NUFC, let's throw something in about Thauvin" every six months or so.

So, about that. :bag_on_head:

 Admittedly it looked as if you were right, I've seen basically nothing of this kid but we did need a winger so I'm pleased we went and got one. I'd love to see a full back brought in since we only really have two full backs (if you class Dummett as a cb who can play fullback) but we may have to wait till jan/next summer to see that with the spending we have made this summer.
