Time to bust out the philosophy account?

Walk a mile in an enemies shoes, then you're a mile away and you've got their shoes too.

Can see us doing some work on this list in summer if we stay up.

Ayew and Gignac have both been linked with us heavily in the past.

Maybe Romero if Krul goes?

A casual link with Charlie Austin this morning, doubt there's anything in it but he'd be a good signing, probably stay in the South with someone like Southampton.

I'd have him in a shot, but it's more likely we'll be after a Riviere gamble.

Patrick Bamford can fuck off, totally unproven at this level and went missing when the kiddy touchers really needed him last season.

Wasn't he just knackered?

Possibly, he had a very good first half to the season but it tailed off. He fits the Ashley mould well. Young, relatively cheap with potential for a re-sale profit if he hits the ground running. Personally I'd prefer a proven goal scorer.

There's a £10m tag on Bamford, can't see us spending anywhere near that on him. Possibility of a loan deal, maybe?

£10m is cheap compared to your regular young British forward players, remember they are at a premium.

Not seen loads of him but he's not looked great from what I've seen. Didn't he get championship player of the season? I would guess that should really put him in the £6m-£8m bracket.

And we don't need players who have never played at a high level. We need players who can go straight into the team. Taking a chance on players who might make the grade cost us £6m for Riviere last season. We don't have the money to waste. It would make much more financial sense and go and spend a bit more on someone proven. Austin fits the bill for me but I can't really see why he'd want to come.

Oh I know it'll be a price that some clubs find reasonable, but I see us twoc-ing players on free transfers or for buttons

Liverpool looking like having to pay far more for Ings than the 6-8mil they offered with Spurs bid being used to signify what he's actually worth  Honestly reckon Spurs knew exactly what they were doing with that.

Most of my mates are boro fans, seen them live a few time playing in the NW. Bamford is a decent player, does everything well without excelling in any area. Would ay he is bit slow for the premiership but decent finisher and decent link up play and ok in the air.
