You have to wonder why people were so confident we'd sign the players we obviously need. The club under this owner frequently allows the transfer window to shut with the squad still desperately short in many areas.

Three centre halves till Christmas now, two of which are donkeys. Three centre forwards, one of whom has been out of nick for two seasons, the other two unproven in this league.

It would be shocking if it wasn't so predictable. Not like they don't have prior form of this type of madness.

If only there was somebody around about a month ago to try and keep people grounded :)

Right, because you were the only person that could predict a farcical transfer deadline day? You must have special powers given how rarely it's happened in the past.

Weird isn't it? Strangely, i did cite preceding windows as a reason for why we wouldn't buy a striker, yet still got shot down and called negative!

I think most peoples' beef was how negative you were on all the new signings. Some of them might prove to be good signings, or even better than some of those they replaced despite early impressions not being that amazing.

The issue for this club as long as Ashley is in charge is he doesn't really give a shit how we do as long as we survive so he'll only spend when it looks like it's good deal, or if he's panicking we might go down. And he's more than happy to let windows shut with us still well short in key areas and gamble that we'll be ok.

That was something a lot of people could see coming, you weren't on your own there, and even if you were, it's hardly something to gloat about is it?

We signed potential where proven quality was needed. Negativity warranted and so far justified.

Two Dutch internationals and a French international I wouldn't class as gambling on potential, albeit they're unproven in this league. The big gamble is up front and at centre half. It's been so obvious we've been short in those areas. Typical and predictable. And on that depressing note I'm off to bed to dream of Ashley and Pardew being buried alive.

Buying from the dutch league is a gamble. Buying for none priority positions is a gamble. Buying unproven in the league players is a gamble if you're going to be relying on them heavily. Cabella is a gamble because he looks shite as well
