trooper 940
I think the clubs reluctance to by a striker is because we have Cisse who wont be ready until the back end of September.
Park Life 71
We've been trying to sell Cisse for months now till he got injured...Turkish and Russian sides were alerted iirc. Riviere and that other bloke from Ukraine might be it for us till Jan... Ashley is such a gimp...We need one decent CD and a tier one striker and it will be a season to look forward to...He won't pay the 20m for a proven Tier 1 striker and that's that. I did read somewhere we're interested in Dawson.
ClubSpinDoctor 0
He needs to grow a set of balls. Look at what Liverpool paid for Suarez and the profit they made. I reckon the HBOS thing knocked the gambling side right out of him. Has he been in Aspers lately?
Del Pede 0
Danish press is reporting, that Carr was in Copenhagen last week, to look at Andreas Cornelius. There is potential in him, but he is no where ready for the PL, and he is not on form, after coming back from Cardiff.

Del Pede 0
He looked complete rubbish last season so it's probably on. He was a very competent striker in the Danish league, and did get a couple of run outs for the national team, but there is still a massive leap up to the PL. But he seems to have become even more shit, after coming back from Cardif

ClubSpinDoctor 0
5 match ticket deal for the home games immediately following the closure of the transfer window, as well as being in talks re: lifting the ban of the local press. You'd be forgiven for thinking they're bracing themselves for a little bit of criticism over the next couple of weeks or so.

trooper 940
Alan Pardew; “I do remember not so long ago, all of us talking very highly about Papiss and whether we could keep him. “With Papiss there’s a possibility he could score a lot of goals in this team – so I wouldn’t write him off by any stretch of the imagination. “He us about two weeks away from starting training, so he is not far away, that is something that seems to have been forgotten about. “If we are going to bring a player in then they have to be better and above Riviere and Papiss, otherwise there’s no point. “You look at those transfers; Jordan Rhodes, McCormack and Shane Long, and you look at the prices, I don’t think we’d have done those three transfers. “He (Cisse) had two or three chances a game and he fluffed his lines a little bit, but he probably needs more than that, top strikers do need more than that – I would never put off the fact that he can come again – and come again here.” Looks like thats the road we're going down relying on Cisse as our main striker. Alex 35583
He seemed to be being touted to all-comers 12 months or so ago. Since then he's had a few injury setbacks and only scored 4 competitive goals (2 league goals including a penalty) and he's going to be the main man. Progress. Andrew 4857
A new low for Pardews nonsense. Not so long ago also is actually 2 years, since then Cisse hasn't managed double figures in the league. Hes a spent force. Rhodes/Long etc we clearly wouldn't do but prices are inflating due to clubs having more money thanks to the TV deals, we haven't altered our spending pattern up in the slightest in line with that while others have, prices go up over time, our willingness to spend on an individual doesn't, a top striker is a 20 million pound player at least, we have that to spend, we won't spend it. More chances needed to score = better striker He didn't have 2 or 3 chances a game and fluff his lines, he had 2 or 3 chances a game and never looked like scoring, hes missed sitter after sitter over the last couple of years. Papiss Cisse is no longer a premier league striker worth playing if you need goals and he won't be unless there is a big coaching change that manages to drag some form back out of him which our current setup is not capable of providing
Park Life 71
The other thing is Cisse didn't get that many clear cut chances during his dry spell. Top striker means 1 in 2 Alan. Riviere looking at him looks a 1 in 3/4. He won't get 4 chances a game in many games, maybe the 3 home games against struggling sides ie Palace etc... Chron pumping some story about a new bid for Remy shows the lack of real determination to get a striker...
Phil 6
Pardew is towing the party line. There's no way he believe we can go into season with two Forwards. It's a numbers game and that's what Ashley has told him to say.

trooper 940
Ridiculous when you think how much money is lying there from TV & Wonga. Cisse's 2 weeks away roughly, then they've to get him match fit, then he'll need time to gel with the rest of the team, then we have to hope he can score goals. essembeeofsunderland 811
Shit strikers in the Prem need 3 chances or more.We don't create 3 chances in most games.Nowt gets pulled back from the touchline.Nowt gets whipped in.Nowt gets threaded through. Now if you think how many chances are created against us due to us backing off or not marking till the opposing player is `on his bike'. Dr Gloom 22149
i wouldn't rule out cisse returning to goal scoring form. but it's very typical that we're taking a punt on that happening instead of investing in a crucial area of the team, when we have the funds to do so. competition for places tends to get the best out of a squad. we have a bunch of unproven strikers, kids and one that's massively out of form and returning from injury.
