This is taken from Reddit so may not be accurate but apparently the transfer fees for Ronaldo, Bale and James now equate to 265 million euros, which is more than Ajax have spent on transfers in their entire history.

Be "interesting" to see how that stacked up against us @happyface

Mike Ashley alone has spent over £180m euros at nufc

Chilean publication El Mercurio is reporting that Newcastle have reached an agreement with Juventus for Mauricio Isla. An £8million fee is said to have been agreed for the full-back, who will join on a four-year contract.

It says Isla is close to signing for us and will bring to an end his irregular run in the Juventus team for a $14 million fee. The English League may soon include another Chilean, with our sale of Debuchy to Arsenal leaving our right flank open (although that's what we signed Janmaat for...) It also says that we seized the opportunity after selling Debuchy to Arsenal and reached a pre-agreement with Juve, beating Fiorentina to the opportunity, and that Isla is due back before July 28 to end his time with the Old Lady and seal his new deal with NUFC.

I don't know much about him except that he played at the WC. Anyone watch much Serie A?

Been denied hasn't it?

Like you say - what's the point? We got Janmaat. I know Isla can play in midfield as well though. Even then, I'd hope our time, money and resources were being aimed at another striker (and if possible another creative midfielder and a CB).

Doesn't appear to have legs, thankfully (the story, not Isla...).

Would like to think the only speculation we're involved in for a while concerns us bringing in a striker. The rest of the side is in fairly good shape, the strikeforce really doesn't inspire me with confidence unless Riviere and Perez surprisingly take the league by storm.

Unless they're seeing janmaat as a centre back? Or Isla as a midfielder?

James Rodriguez signs for Real Madrid for £63 million

Unless I'm much mistaken, all in all Di Maria had the better stats last season, playing in the better league. And now he'll likely be moved on.

Not for the first time, I think they've bought a player they don't need. Good World Cup from Monaco's point of view, his performances added a fair few quid to the fee they got.

It's the galactico model in action

Barcelona have lost the plot. They have announced the transfer of Jeremy Mathieu. Signed the 30 year old to a four year contract with a further year option. Valencia receive twenty million euros and Barcelona slapped a fifty million buyout clause in his new contract. Valencia must be laughing all of the way to the bank.

Is this that left back that has been around for million years?

Di Maria sored 4 in 34 league games with 18 assists.

James scored 9 in 34 league games is 11 assists.

Pretty comparable record, you could argue James was in a poorer league, but you could argue that Di Maria was playing with much better players.

Either way they seem to have based this signing on the back of an excellent world cup for James after Di Maria had probably his best season for Madrid when he finally became an important player for them.

I've little doubt that he'll do well for them but I'm interested in how he will fit in with Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema.

Surely he'll just slot in behind Benzema with Ronny & G-Bale on the wings?
