Weimanns shit. Delph hasnt lived up to his earlier potential either.

I guess these two are Pardew's choice players, very pacey, both heavy grafters, but little flair and average at best technically. Pardew thinks his shite tactics will shine and become effective if he only gets enough grafters to this club.

Luke Edwards --- Telegraph

Owner will not axe manager after terrible second half of season and hopes to conclude transfer business before World Cup

Alan Pardew is expected to remain as Newcastle United manager and will be given a significant transfer budget to strengthen the squad before the start of next season.

Pardew appears to have survived another end-of-season review at St James’ Park as Mike Ashley, the club’s owner, recognised that some of the problems that led to a dreadful second half of the season were created by Joe Kinnear, the former director of football.

Kinnear failed to make a single permanent signing in two transfer windows before resigning in February. That left Pardew with a squad that lacked the depth and competition for places needed to sustain a top-seven challenge.

Despite widespread calls for his dismissal on Tyneside, both from fans and the local media in recent weeks, Pardew is expected to be given the chance to rebuild the side and improve on a terrible end to a frustrating season.

Newcastle were challenging for a European place at the end of 2013, but tumbled down the Premier League table, eventually finishing 10th after losing 15 of their 21 games since Christmas.

But, having been set the target of a top-10 finish, Pardew should have done enough to avoid the sack.

The club are expected to confirm the news with an official statement on Tuesday and although it is unlikely to go down well with the majority of fans, the hierarchy hope a successful summer in the transfer market will help heal wounds before the start of pre-season training in July.

Significantly, the club believe they will be able to announce the first of several new signings in the next few days and expect to have the majority of their recruitment done before the World Cup.

Although he is sticking by his manager, Ashley toyed with the idea of sacking Pardew, as he did 12 months ago when the team finished fifth from bottom in the Premier League.

Sources have told The Telegraph he was “angry and disappointed” by the team’s results and concerned by the protests against Pardew during Newcastle’s final home game of the season against Cardiff City .

However, season-ticket renewals have not dropped off, despite threats fans would boycott games next season if Pardew remained. The club’s sponsors have also resisted the temptation to agitate for a new manager.

Pardew has benefited from the fact he has six years left on the contract he signed two years ago, after he had guided Newcastle to a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.

By finishing in the 10, Pardew gave Ashley no excuse to terminate that contract and avoid paying compensation.

Although unimpressed by both results and performances over the past four months, Ashley felt it was correct to stick with a manager he knows well, who has impressed in the past and who has never complained about the way the club is run.

The purse strings will be loosened this summer, with a creative midfielder and two strikers the most pressing priorities.

Rémy Cabella, the Montpellier forward, may well be the first new signing after Newcastle failed to land the France international in January. Pardew has also made it clear he would like more British players in the squad and will move for Jonjo Shelvey, the Swansea City midfield player and Aston Villa’s Fabian Delph.

#nufc have contacted me to dispute the fact they have pledged to spend £60m this summer. Happy to pass this info on. Budget is undisclosed

In other words, we will be buying some players but don't tell anyone. Pardew is staying as manager, erm, nothing to add. Goodnight #nufc

60M sounds about right given the state of the squad, and the last two transfer windows we've had.

So we'll probably spend around 20M.

We could spend £60mil and still break even this year. Expect wages and agents fees to come out if that if true

Yup. No way Ashley is chucking that out in transfer fees alone. Even though we should be able to manage it more than easily, and by all rights should.

Mind you spend anything substantially less than that and we're flirting with relegation.

"Significantly, the club believe they will be able to announce the first of several new signings in the next few days and expect to have the majority of their recruitment done before the World Cup".

The World Cup starts on 12th June I didn't think the transfer window opens until 1st July.
