The Fish 10674
There you go, 8 new players. Happy now? Mike Ashley has assured Newcastle United’s players that he will be investing money in the re-shaping of their ailing squad this summer. The Journal understands that a senior member of the squad was given firm assurances by the owner – who has spent time at the training ground recently – that there are funds available to spend. Ashley is also understood to have had dinner with Fabricio Coloccini, the Newcastle captain, when he visited Tyneside before the owner’s short trip to America. Those two facts are being viewed as positive developments by a squad that is in line to earn a substantial bonus if they meet the target of finishing in the top ten. That tallies with the message put out by Alan Pardew and other key figures at the club, who have spoken of up to eight new players joining Newcastle in a bid to reverse their fortunes – which have nose-dived following the sale of Yohan Cabaye. The Journal understands that Benjamin Stambouli, of Montpellier, and powerful forward Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon are key targets, while Alan Pardew wants the club to add Sunderland’s Jack Colback and Jonjo Shelvey of Swansea, who is a £6million target for the Magpies. He signed for Swansea for £5m rising to £6m with add ons, he's unlikely to move again for that price given he's been receiving praise for his recent performances. This is all smoke and mirrors to dupe people into signing up for another season of mediocrity and disappointment.

Ken 119
You blamed their nationality; French. And I stand by it. A majority French squad in the PL managed by a Brit is a recipe for a fuck up.
trooper 940
At the end of the summer window the club will issue a statement "We tried like fuck to get one or two over the line but the bastards wouldn't come"
Christmas Tree 4669
Simon Bird (mirror) running a similar story. "Top spenders outside the top four". Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has insisted he is ready to spend money in the summer to get Alan Pardew's squad back on track. The Sports Direct tycoon has conceded that proper investment is needed to stop the end of season slump continuing into next season. Senior figures at all levels of the club have been told the Magpies are likely to be among the major spenders, outside the cash-rich top four. Newcastle will not have signed a player on a permanent deal for 18 months when the summer transfer window opens. They are bottom of the Premier League spending table over the last five years accruing a surplus of £45million by one estimate. With the £16million from the sale of Yohan Cabaye deal unspent, and the club making a profit, Ashley has told his employees that he needs to protect the club with fresh investment to push it further into the top ten. Some Newcastle players are also convinced that boss Pardew will be allowed to head the major rebuilding job - to include recruiting two strikers, a top play-maker and a number of English recruits with experience of the league. acrossthepond 866
Talk is cheap (astonishingly cheap for the bullshit merchants we have running the club.) I can't think of any other owner in the league who'd be prepared to sanction a major spending spree and decide that Alan Pardew was the man he trusted to manage those new players. In the end we'll see how it comes out, but I don't believe a word of this.

essembeeofsunderland 811
We could possibly have the same `injury' problems leading up to the euro's in two years time,if we can get any half decent internattional to sign for us this summer. Has Shola signed his new contract yet.
Howay 12496
We've heard shite like this in past windows, and went on to get little. I also don't want Pardew being the one in charge of any new signings.
StoneColdStephenIreland 74
The start of every window we hear that were after four targets, then a few weeks in we're after 3, then a few weeks after were after a couple and then in the end we get one loan signing. It's all bollocks.
ohhh_yeah 2930
Good player Shelvey. After reading this quote I believe he would be a perfect match for the squad. Salivating at the thought of Williamson or Dummett hoofing the ball up field in the general direction of him. After six seasons of Pardew instructing the team to employ these tactics maybe we can witness a Championship trophy hoisted. “Take a ball, stand in the garden, kick it as high as you can and try and control it without letting it bounce. That always helped me. I’d play out the front of the house, kicking the ball against the wall, left foot, right foot, over and over again. If you keep working on it, working on it, working on it, eventually it will come.”

Average to good player atm Shelvey but plenty of years ahead for him to develop into a decent premier league midfielder. Not sure about him for much more than £6m thoughh. TheGoslingBeast 0
I find it frustrating that Newcastle is never "gambling" on supertalented young players (18-23) with a bit higher price tag. Ashley just want to buy cheap as fuck players that have already been proven on some level, like Cabaye, Debuchy, Ba who can bring some income quick when selling before they get too old. That way he don't need to get highly competent coaching staff to get the best out of potential gem players. We will never find the potential next Messi/Ronaldo this way and develop him into our own superplayer, we just get ready made half assed players who can offer a little bit of their help, but not their heart, before they fuck off like mercenaries. Ashley can tell us £50 mill is to be spent in the coming window, but still get us nothing because all the offers were £1-2 mill too high for some reason (like he knows what a player is worth). TheGoslingBeast 0
What would the point be? They wouldn't progress under our coaching setup. True, they are not willing to invest in the future of Newcastle, just the future of Mike Ashley. That's why there shouldn't be ANY Newcastle fans watching Newcastle games from the seats of SJP.
