The US is fascinating in this regard. If you really do need to sell guns, you've at least got to make them harder for crazies to buy them.

This point is crucial to me. The pro-gun lobby seem to think that any restriction on gun ownership, even if it's just restricting some of the people who can buy them, is too much regulation. Why wouldn't responsible gun owners want everybody to be held to high standards?

I've not heard a single convincing argument for a 1st world country to have such lax gun control, it's mental.

In a way the US is somewhat fortunate that it doesn't have an Islamic terrorist problem in the way much of Europe does. Our terrorists in the main are pretty pathetic. If they had access to the type of hardware available to every US citizen things could be a lot worse. But thankfully we have sensible gun laws.

Very, very good point.

Stood at a 32nd floor window just unloading clip after clip into a crowd of 40k.

They reckon there are roughly 3million AR-15 automatic rifles owned by American civilians. That's ONE model of rifle by the way.

The government has no idea how many actual weapons are owned by civilians because of the different legislation in different states

Still waiting to hear the t-word applied to this utter cunt. But he wasn't Muslim, so he's a "shooter" or a "gunman." Fuck off. Innocent victims, RIP.

If he was motivated by an ideological, religious, or political cause, then he's a terrorist in my book. Before his motives are understood, I'd not call him a terrorist though.

The biggest issue we have in the UK is terrorists. Strikes me in the US your biggest problem is guns.

This is fucking awful. Wish I could say I was in any way shocked. This will go down the ordinary route “how dare you politicize this” the only exception being they can’t use the old “if people in the area were armed” excuse. This country needs to wake up to this glaring issue, regular people should not have access to military grade fire arms ffs. This was a bloke just firing off rounds from the 32nd floor with a degree of precision, why would you ever need that firearm? To defend yourself from bears? Aye sure.

A 65 year old bloke called Stephen was the shooter apparently. Automatic assault rifle ffs. No doubt he got it from one of those gun shows that require basically no checks as Vegas has loads of them.

Honestly, it's surprising it doesn't happen more often. Just takes one unhinged nut with nothing to lose.

If there is ever a real political unrest in the States, like what has happened in Catalonia, you're fucked.

This is exactly why the neo-nazis and antifa are a problem. Both sides doing armed marches ffs.

With the right adapters someone with Parkinsons could have done this much damage to a crowd that thick with an AR15

Aye, utterly crackers that civilians have access to this type of fire power. He was armed with military grade rounds too they’re saying (5.56 and/or .223 the bloke on the news was saying).
