I wouldn't say scared, but there is some nerves there from some players. I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing as long as we ride that phase out.

Sorry yes, nervous a better word. You're right I hope!

If so it shows that they know it's an important game.

Lots of crosses for the ghost of Shola at the moment...

Ref letting everything go for both sides so far, good to keep the game flowing but danger of this getting a little dirty in midfield considering who is playing

Mertesacker making Williamson look dexterous and mobile there.

We're handling their propensity to go to ground incredibly well at the moment, backing off at the last and not being overly physical.

Considering he's in at the expense of Ben Arfa, Gouff isn't doing much at all to warrant his selection today. Would like to see more from him.

They're threatening but we're creating a lot down the right. Not enough bodies forward though so we're just hoping Debuchy will score a wondergoal.

Sissoko had a busy but unproductive first 10 and has done little since. There's a case for an earlyish substitution bringing on Ben Arfa. Likewise for Shola.

I get the feeling that Pardew is simply hoping not to concede this half to leave his options open in the second.
