Newcastle ban all press (unless they pay).

So it'll just be the occasional interview not associated with one game or another? The kind of stuff that is fluff (in the now banned local press)we only read because it's there and we ingest everything and anything about our club?

Well this will have no impact on anything what-so-ever.

Agreed. Hardly a catastrophe.

Think this is an unintentionally good move, just showcases Mike and friends for the cunts they are and gives the nationals a nudge to look more closely at NUFC under this regime rather writing about England and Moyes/Man U ad nauseam. :good:

Why's everyone so negative?

If they are paying for access to the club, they may put a bit more effort into the shite they write!

I imagine "gold" will give player and manager interview access. This can only be a good thing.

There'll probably be a list of questions the press can/can't ask I would imagine it'll be similar to the interviews the big film stars and music stars give. Even if the press buy into this I can hardly see there being enough money generated to buy new players for the team.

Yeah I'm sure an exclusive interview with Steven Taylor (which is also available on the online edition) will arrest the decline in newspaper circulations. A new golden age of Fleet Street awaits.

Someone's got out of the sarcastic side of the bed this morning

I don't think it would for a moment but even in declining circulation wars, the owners want every advantage to maintain numbers and keep advertisers.

Being able to claim you have all the exclusive NUFC stories might be tempting for them.

Depends how desperate the newspaper owners are in these times of dwindling circulations. Some may see it as a great promotional tool over a rival.

Or they could just tell Ashley to piss off.

Unless the gold package includes a weekly chat with Mike Ashey I can't see any press giving a fuck.

Any journalist worth their salt is all about impartial reporting of the facts. The club are looking to a mutually beneficial media partnership here.

For the same reason I never read 99% of the official website I would have no interest in their official press content. As I'm sure most others wouldn't either.

Can't see any of the big papers going for it. The likes of tribal football or some other shite web site might, to increase their readership. But that's the only media that might see it as worth their while.

That's the interesting bit, what is behind this?

Is it just petty behaviour on the back of the paper ban or is is something that's common place say in NFL etc that is coming anyway????

Obviously it's unimportant to onliners, but we are not their target audience anyway.

I think it's come from the banning of the local journos, someone inside SJP has asked why we're giving coverage to the rest of them and not getting a penny for it.

I think Ashley would prefer them all to fuck off and this is his way of doing it. The fees will be high but the contract will be tight as fuck, they will be able to pull the plug if a pube's out of place.

In the interim does the Sports Direct Catalogue have exclusive rights? Much the way that Sports Direct had the stadium name and still have ridiculous amounts of in ground sponsorship gratis?
