I do think politicians need to be braver with this than it appears they're going to be. I have faith in the EU to do what is needed here between some manner of response and a longer term re-organisation, but the UK is so small minded on this stuff now (since we have no influence) that we're just going to be chasing shadows of the movements from everyone else.

We need to get back into the EU. I'm already sick to death of being an irrelevance. Between that and immigration doubling since, it's just beyond me why anyone ever thought this was a good idea.

I had to explain to my mam this week that she didn't need to worry about her money losing value cos it's with a bank, not in the stock market.

But mention Brexit and she thinks she's a fucking world trade expert.

The tariffs may stoke inflation so may well devalue her money, you so-called accountant

She was specifically talking about the money she inherited from my gran lads, but THANKS SO MUCH for the finance lessons.

I'm surprised and a bit disappointed CT never offered up any financial/crypto advice on one of his friendly chats with your folks?

https://transsafety.network/posts/chili-sauce-in-mascara-wes-streeting-complicity-conversion-abuse/

Streeting seems to have aligned himself with trans conversion therapy groups who advocate for destroying the clothes of your kid if they're not aligned with their birth gender, and putting extra hot chilli sauce in their mascara.

My opinion of Streeting is already on the floor in a general sense but I do admire his consistency.

Fuck I've just seen there. Are you impacted?

Well I don’t know because like most of their recent announcements they haven’t worked out the details. My role is quite niche so I might be ok. There’s literally me and one other person doing what I do in the whole of the civil service, let alone the department. But at the very least there’s bound to be a lot of people I know who will be. It’s pure politics too imo. Once again trying to appeal to people who would never vote for them whilst alienating people who otherwise would

Yeah looks rough... a third of the workforce?

Probably about a 1/6 with a similar number going elsewhere in MoG. But that’s obviously still a lot of redundancies

Hope your job is safe Alex. And I'm sure you're right, the dickheads are continuing the job of the Tories and Musk and demonising civil servants. The stupid cunts will probably make a load of people redundant and then have to pay consultants three or four times the amount to get work done.

Cheers, mate.

A lot of that has went over my head but I hope your job is ok Alex. Not sure how many numbers of job cuts we're talking about here or where but it doesn't sound great. :(

Cheers. It’s about this:

Hope your okay Alex. Wondering if it's such a good idea to join an arms length government body myself tbh, what with NHSE biting the bullet. Am hoping that the because the very purpose of my role is to rationalise cost saving in the NHS I'll be okay but I've got fuck all protection if this isn't the case. Ah well, we'll see. I fucking hate these constant reorganisation incoming governments feel the need to do whilst achieving bot all except unsettling the staff or worse.
