Aye, and the format BTW. 45 seconds. Then you've got people screaming that Starmer won't tell anyone his policies. FORTY FIVE SECONDS BITCH! With some little cunt trying to interrupt you every time you open your gob.

You try laying out policy.

They would be much better off doing long form interviews where they actually get into policy and why it will work.

100% agree and that was another reason I thought ‘fuck this’. I get you have to have some sort of rough limit in order to get all the questions in. 45 seconds though? I think the first question took nearly that long to ask.

Made even worse by the fact that as soon as one started answer, the other would start heckling them. It was crackers.

Hopefully the future ones are slightly less shit.

I actually think Sky's "leader forum" idea is better, where they'll get Starmer and Sunak on individually to answer questions from the audience. I also think Starmer will wipe the floor with Sunak in that format.

Ooof. Third poll out and this one has Starmer the clear "winner" FWIW.

I think the initial Tory jubilation at the £2k and the YouGov snap poll is quickly collapsing

The short bit I saw Starmer got a couple of rounds of applause. Did Sunak get a single one?

He got a few in all honesty. But the highlight was the side slapping laughter he generated when he came out with his shite about the NHS waiting lists. “They are lower than the time when they were higher”

This followed by a loud groan when he blamed the waiting lists on the doctor strikes.

The chair of the debate was hopeless too, she had zero control over it. They should have cut their mics off when it was the others turn to have a go.

This thread is spot on, particularly the last post:

"Finally, if more of the media could stop being pundits for five fucking minutes and forget "how this will play" in favor of reporting what is objective truth, that would be swell."

Sunak doubling down on it, has just posted a video with Starmer repeatedly saying £2,000. I think this is gonna backfire pretty badly for the clueless prick.

No it was ITV / Julie Etchingham. She’d struggled for the bits I saw but the format didn’t really help her imo. Not least trying to stop people talking after only 45 seconds

As evidenced by the general position here, no one is watching for policy. It's all about the theatre for the TV stations. Hence, let them loose. Thanks Trump.

Richard "I'm very loyal to the North East" Holden parachuted in as the SOLE candidate for the Billericay constituency btw.

Was it NUFC.com that was forever on about Billericay Dickie? One of the refs iirc.

Possible? One of the Guardian journalists earlier linked to a section of the debate where Starmer looks like he's trying to mention the letter but he gets shut down by Etchingham. Which would confirm that he DID know about the letter and was at least letting Sunak repeat it multiple times on the night:

If this is right, he's basically Perry Mason.
