Hey, I'm fine. Got a couple of days off work, outside in the garden with the kids, actually cool and breezy here. Massive paddling pool to cool off when needed. Think the happy pills I'm on are actually working now, shame I needed them, but that's 21st century living for you. Going for a sea swim later, and will actually enjoy the warmer than normal sea temperature, there's a plus.

No point in pretending everything is going to be okay with this country or indeed globally though. Because it clearly isn't, to me at least . The main reason for this is we live in a post truth society, where realities are ignored, so we can't react to them. Brexit is just an example of this. Plus the short termism of politics and its ridiculous partisanism.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe we will develop technical solutions to climate change in time, or we will adapt to huge areas of the globe becoming inhabitable? Look at our leaders and what do you reckon?

Think @Rayvin made the point that the only thing to fight for now is the rate of the descent. I think he's right.

Yup, slow the impact until some massive nerd comes up with a way to arrest the damage or manage climate better.

Guarantee he was the only one of the 12 not backing Truss. Corrupt to the fucking death, this lot.

That's what our former PM was relying on. Well that and Jesus defeating Satan, of course.

No prizes for guessing who'll be ultimately footing the bill for this charade. He's effectively being sacked and is being given leaving presents. Utter fucking joke.

Can we just remind ourselves that this bloke FINALLY lost his job for protecting and promoting a serial sex offender.

Imagine being such an empty vessel that you can't see past Boris Johnson for the most important job in the land.

Can they please publish the signatories to this letter, so we can tick them all off and raise a glass as they cark it.

This is exactly why he was confident that he could ride out any storm that came his way. That there were always enough to be enough gullible idiots who would back him come what may.

Has this been posted yet?

How is it possible to simultaneously hold these two thoughts:

I know I don't know how to hold my hands normally

AND

I should be the next Prime Minister.

As the field whittles down, it feels like more votes might break to Truss than Mordaunt to me. I might be completely wrong but I reckon Mordaunt is gonna peak out at some point and get overtaken by Truss.

Well lookie here!  Who's a clever little cunt then?!

That’s the other thing about Rory Stewart and the idea he’s one of ‘the good Tories’. Apart from politicians he’s stood shoulder to shoulder with, just look at the membership of the party

Loads of patter from journalists speculating about whether Sunak has loaned votes to Truss today to "block her tomorrow", but I don't really understand their arguments. It's the Badenoch votes that matter now and it's hard to see how many of them end up going to Mordaunt. How does Sunak block anyone?

They basically can't understand how Sunak didn't benefit more from Tommy Tuggers going yesterday and so are theorising.

yes, i saw that earlier - brilliantly done. the pathetic legacy of 12 years of tory government, all the more delicious as the honest appraisal is all in their own words.

I think Truss wins if it’s her v Sunak. Mourdant probably beats either of them but it’s difficult to see her v Truss. I’d have picked Truss out of the lot because  I don’t think she’s got a hope of winning the next GE
