MINISTERIAL CODE 1.3.c.

It is of paramount importance that Ministers give accurate and truthful information to Parliament, correcting any inadvertent error at the earliest opportunity. Ministers who knowingly mislead Parliament will be expected to offer their resignation to the Prime Minister;

So that's Sunak gone, else the Ministerial Code is a load of fucking bollocks. The bigger question is who is the arbitrator of the Prime Minister's actions? That role can't be self-governing else again, the Ministerial Code is a load of fucking bollocks.

That nails it. It's totally honesty based and not enforcable by anyone. The Pritti Patel bullying case showed that.

I've never met one in my entire life (as in, knowing anyone whos trans) and think I've had a pretty varied life so far -  I'm intrigued as I've always thought that they are a very very small minority of people in the world?

Do you remember that lass you went out with a few years ago who insisted on anal sex? That was her real cock she used. :good:

I would DEFO remember that!

Seriously though, I do know 1 trans person, I forgot. I worked with him years ago at a big UK bank head office and there was a bit of a kafuffle when they came back into the office. It wasn't horrible but it was quite weird , with HR sending a message to everyone not to mention the "change" from man to woman - which seemed wrong to me at the time.

10 or 11?

Mostly trans women, one trans man. Anecdotally I would say its more common amongst people in their early to mid 20s than other age groups.

Only one of them I know well, the others are friends of friends. Still though, have had conversations with them all.

 fwiw it isn't by design on my part, and up until 3 or 4 years ago I knew precisely zero trans people.

That said I guess a couple of friendship groups opened up my community a bit on that basis and here we are. I will say tbh, none of them are militant and angry, they're all timid and scared shitless. So I have a hard time seeing them as "the enemy". They're just people trying not to live their lives in pain.

Ok, that's more believable.

I took it literally, knowing OF and knowing are separate things, in my book.

I really feel for them, as it just seems that as society becomes "better" , we just pick another bunch of people to demonise.

My generation faught Racism, then Homophobia .

Once racism was addressed, BBC comedies would use the gay bloke as the punchline instead of the black bloke - it seems in the 00's that that then changed to the Transexual community with "I'm a lady" little britain etc.

I've always thought that the Trans community is a LOT less people than the "non white" communities of the 80's and 90's and homosexuals. So I've been shocked at how much shit they've had to take really.

I think you're right. The added difficulty they have (IMO) is that they cross a political line for some on the social justice side as well. Some feminist women see them as interlopers into conversations about privilege and oppression where traditionally their views and feelings would have been paramount. This is the JK Rowling angle. So they take fire from both sides, which I think is probably a fairly unique circumstance. I mean we all know all of this I guess but yeah - seems to keep them in the news.

I vaguely feel as though they are going to become a larger demographic in the coming years as young people spend more time questioning themselves along these lines - but I also suspect it will end up with a total dilution of the whole gender binary anyway; to the point where it doesn't really matter anymore, who is what.

Yeah, as contentious as it is, I think this is where I start becoming old and immutable.

I'm perfectly fine with self identity etc, I understand that - but I also understand dysmorphia / dysphoria and I do feel it falls into that category.

This is an awful comparison, but someone with body dysmorphia who amputates their arms and legs does not become someone who is the same as one born with tetra-amelia. Or ones an amputee and ones a quadriplegic person.

So, in English - personally, I support being able to identify how you feel comfortable if you have dysphoria / dysmorphia - but I cannot come to terms with saying that you can actually 100% change gender from the sex you were born as, because that's a TRUE or FALSE statement that's scientific , to me.

Scientifically, there are 3 sexes - Male, Female and Hermaphrodite at birth. So I end up actually agreeing with some of the hate mongers 😕 Not that I think people dont have a right to "identify" but I struggle when a post op transexual claims the sex that they have re-assinged to. We need a nicer term than Post-Op mind - but it isn't based in any science.

And fuck me sorry - haven't I just derailed this whole thiing with my own personal curiosity/ opinion and I'm not sure anyone gives a fuck anymore for my particular demographic's opinion. (Im GEN X and proud!! The forgotten generation that weren't boomers or millenials!)

The government are an embarrassment, I'd rather talk about something positive.

May have already been posted, but what a cunt Madeley and his little chums are. Getting a young lass onto the show to basically ambush and belittle her. The state of discussion in 2022 sadly, invite someone on that you have a different view from jam your fingers in your ears and scream at them that they’re juvenile and pathetic.

Couldn't agree more - wish they'd picked "Just Stop NEW Oil" as their motto though, because it invites shit like this.

Fuck me, I just watched it through and I just felt so furious on behalf of the campaigner . The other woman who's ranting about eco-festivals is twitching like a psycho, yet the campaigner seems to really hold her shit together , for no benefit.

I think this probably comes down to a question of what difference it makes, if we all accept that they are who they say they are. Who does it harm? I'm not the best advocate for trans people on this discussion I might add, it's not an area I know in detail and I am constantly being schooled by my trans friends on various associated issues. I'm wary of talking nonsense for the sake of making their case.

Ideally, these would be conversations to have with trans people - and all I can say here is that at least for those I know, they're not trying to bring down the entire social order of things -  they're just trying to live without feeling shit all day, every day.

"We're a democracy" as if this is the single most important factor in any conversation about anything, anywhere. If we democratically voted to nuke every major city in this country, would that be an infallable judgement that everyone should just accept? Being on the majority in a democracy doesn't make you right. It is in fact only a measure of how successful any particular narrative has been, over competing ones.

Poor girl. genuinely. You could see her rage as well. These old fucks sitting there, burning her future, and telling her that she's not complaining about it in the right way, she's complaining in an inconvenient way. They're lucky the young aren't literally arming up - I suspect in 20 or 30 years time, they'll be wishing they had.

The “we’re a democracy” point was really well made while she was basically telling someone they had no right to her view as others disagree with her .

The weird bit in the middle too where they basically say ‘stop bringing up the facts as we all know them’ and the poor lass just looks confused going but if it’s all known facts then why are you doing fuck all and writing me off?

It’s completely shameless like, whatever your views on the topic it’s shambolic.

You know what Rayvin, I'm not even sure we are a democracy anymore - I think we need a new word for FPTP , with lobbyists, monopolies etc propping it all up.

Switzerland, now that's a democracy and arguably NZ too. Switzerland cant do anything without a public vote - it makes them slow, but it appears to not hinder stability or the ability to react to world events.

Spot on, the way she scrunches her face up when she’s sneering at the lass for having the gall to disagree. The lass did very well but you can see how visibly upset and annoyed she is which speaks volumes about the supposed adults she’s meant to be discussing with.

“yeah well you’re wearing clothes and they probably used oil somewhere” Is that not her point dickhead? She’s not coming on to say she has answers she is trying to appeal to those who might.

The point it’s hypocritical is ridiculous because they recognise the fact re: oil being used but want to change it. Also the likes of Madeley (who genuinely manages to outdo Alan Partridge by accident on a regular basis) and Lowri Turner parroting populist drivel doesn’t make what they say true.

The reason lots of young people are so annoyed about this is because climate change has been warned about and has been in the post for ages now. And very little / nowhere near enough has been done. It’s absolutely incredible how trivial it still is to most people.

Yep. Agreed. On both paragraphs. I don't mind the idea of people choosing to go a different direction to the one I believe in as long as its based on a well reasoned argument that I can logically follow. I'm not sure that concept enters into British politics whatsoever these days.

If I was Sunak I'd realise that my leadership ambitions were already over and then resign in order to put massive pressure on Johnson to do the same in order for a bit of payback.

Still nothing from Sunak which looks more and more like he’s preparing a resignation.

Even if Johnson rides this one out there’s a very good chance that he’s got a few more FPNs in the post.
