That will be the useless 10% in most surveys who "don't know".

And you reckon that most of those who answered one way or the other fully understood the issues?

Do they ever.

Then why post it?

Becuase its a current mori opinion poll!!!

Thats like saying "why have an election".... :jester:

Not your worst idea tbh CT

Clearly not enough of the voters are engaged enough with the issues to vote with more than gut reactions to tabloid headlines. I don't mind people voting Tory if they are fully informed of what their policies are, but so many of the tories I know have voted that way because "Well, Labour are shit aren't they, we're in a global recession because Brown sold the gold".

And they're ust as bad as the Labour voters who vote against the Tories on principle, before you accuse me of blind bias.

I say allow James Earl-Jones to become the benign dictator we all know he could be and watch as the British Empire returns to glory. :dancing:

Maybe if Super Gord didn't drop it to 15%, the hike wouldn't be needed. Cheap stunt to win stupid peoles votes, who did you vote for? :jester:

Moreover, an increase in VAT is tax on non-essential spending, so its a million times better than Labours proposed on increase national insurance - a direct tax to everyone over £21k.

Depends how you define non-essential but you'd have to take it at its most literal for that to be anything like true.

Clothes, electricity, gas, phone and water bills, petrol, train/metro fares, beer.

You must have a nice life with no essentials in that list.

Aye it's a brilliant move, 'don't worry guys, we're not increasing NI contributions, but we are going to increase the price of most of what you buy by 2.1%', cheers Gideon.

They've rescinded the ridculous rise on cider - all hail the Tory bastards.

Do any of the senior Tories own a few apple orchards?

The yokels love them and the Lib Dems. This is like a big thank you to the West Country :jester: The charvs'll still be able to get 3 litres of Frosty Jack for £1.99 as well.

Given the shameful inheritance left by Labour.....

This will probably go down as one of the best budgets in living memory.

The blinkered will attack everything whilst not detailing what they would have cut instead.

However the nasty Tories.....

Lifting the poorest million earners out of income tax

Restoring the earnings link to pensions

Increasing child tax credit

and thats just for starters.

Absolutely brilliant given the Labour debt bomb

2.1% rise says it all really.

Kid at work, reading the Budget updates off the Beeb website, reckons (without a hint of irony) we should sell off the BBC.

Oh dear, let me explain it to you in terms you might understand.

If you buy £100 of sweets exc. VAT at 17.5% you pay £117.50

Now, if you buy £100 of sweets exc. VAT under the Tories you pay £120

Now, be a good lad and tell me by how much has the price of your sweeties increased?
