What are the 'genuine' safety concerns? I've looked it up and the data shows absolutely zero evidence of an increased likelihood of a cis woman being assaulted by a trans-woman in a shared setting.

It's done by comparing areas where trans-women are allowed in the likes of public bathrooms and those where they aren't. There aren't figures released reporting assaults by trans-gender status AFAIA. https://escholarship.org/content/qt4rs4n6h0/qt4rs4n6h0.pdf  But surely the onus to provide evidence has to be by those claiming there's a risk?

As I sort of said above I think they almost need to move on from the "What is a woman? " question to "What is a transexual?" as it seems to me that nearly everyone involved seems to think or imply that all trans women are pre-ops with penises. 

 

I still don't think it's right to force post-ops to use mens facilities or vice versa though I think there are a lot fewer trans men. I can't help feeling there'll be no sympathy if/when a trans woman is assaulted.

Also, I’d say that grasping the Etiquette of Urinal Use and Placement of Self Therein would be much harder for a trans man than which cubicle to use for a trans woman.

Mr Mrs (NHS nurse and used to work in female shelter) and elder child had a big, heated argument around this topic last week.

 

This then went slightly off piste but the Mrs was suggesting as a health professional it’s gone a bit too far (she has to use the word “chest feeding” now rather than breast feeding). She also needs to know when treating someone what their original gender is. 
 

The female shelter came up as well, with most the women in there being traumatised from males.

I watched a documentary about a trans man transitioning including seeing the operation (which was grim) so feel suitably qualified to answer this one. Aye, they can. They also tend to get an above average todger to piss out of and one of their fake bollocks is a pump that gets them rock hard without the need for any effort or pills.

 

So in short, they are better than us - both emotionally and most likely sexually since they can go like the clappers without needing a half hour recharge after 2-3 minutes - but we’d at least be able to chin them in a white collar boxing match (for the most part).
