Rayvin 5189
Have to say mind, the Daily Mail comment section is, dare I say it, starting to see the light. Lots of upvotes for the 'fuck Brexit' side.  Still plenty of the gut feelers on the other side waxing lyrical about the nonsense that they think they voted for, but I've not seen the Mail quite so split on this at any point.  Funny how all these people didn't care if others lost their jobs, if it made people's lives harder, until it started to affect them. Selfish fucking morons. I still remember after the 2019 vote when the BBC or whoever it was went around asking people what the values were that prompted them to vote in the way they did, and generation baby boomer was coming in with "I deserve this, I only care about me, I want I want I want, Me, Me, Me" and the 'snowflake' millennials/Zoomers were saying "we care about our communities and giving people a fair chance at life, I vote for what's good for society in general".  Far better stock than their parents and grandparents (in the main). The thing that galls me more than anything is that the boomers will never process or confront that this colossal fuck up is on them, and that their extravagance, privilege and easy living for decades before was not 'earned'. They were just fucking lucky to live through a prosperous era.
Rayvin 5189
Just thinking that through by the way, I joined the workforce full time in 2008, right at the start of the credit crunch or whatever it was. Since about a year or two after that point, I've had the Tories hammering wages, growth and living standards - and now will have another two decades of falling prospects irrespective of who is in charge, thanks to this fucking political party. So that's 30 years of my working life that has been fucked by the Tories. 30 fucking years.  Obviously I'm very aware that it's not just about me and this goes for everyone but the timing seems quite neat in my case.  Just fuck all of them. And the boomers wonder why there's no hope for the future in younger generations. You burned the future to the ground you fuckers.

Gemmill 44559
The IFS has rinsed them this morning. Referring to a series of own goals by the Conservative government going right back to Osborne in 2010, and including the absolutely terrible Brexit that's been delivered.

None of this was true for my Dad, for instance. He was a socialist to his core and I think this actually hindered him in his career, he was very intelligent but never reached his potential because he wasn't motivated in personal gain. (Edit: although on reflection he was part of the "silent generation", not a boomer).  Also I am always acutely aware that human nature doesn't really change between generations or between groups closely aligned geographically, for instance. Which is why the belief that mackem's have they are morally superior or "classier" is not just laughable but risible. It's also a sobering thought to think if things had been different we could have been mackems. But we're not, so at least there's that to cheer us up.  Edited November 18, 2022 by Renton

My dad is also a socialist btw - so I agree, it's a generalisation.  Let's nuance it and just say we all know the specific people I'm referring to.

Rayvin 5189
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/nov/18/keir-starmer-i-kissed-a-tory-and-not-ashamed-labour  Fuck me. I try to ignore this stuff from Starmer, I really do. "I have friends who are Tories, and long may that continue". Just... what?? So when you look for friends, you distinctly look for people whose worldview is an anathema to decency? I am friends with zero Tories, and I would never date one - not even because I'd choose not to be, but as someone politically engaged I can tell you right now it would be fucking impossible. It's not a difference of opinion mate, it's an entire worldview. It's not that we all want the same things and disagree about how to get it, it's that one side want a stable and prosperous country in which all its people can share, and the other side want to siphon everything into their own pockets and those of their mates, while simultaneously letting themselves be weaponised against the nation by hostile foreign powers.  There should be precisely zero Tories in a patriotic nation that cares about its people and puts the national interest first.
