Voters in Hartlepool now think the Tories are more socialist than Labour.

a transformative socialist agenda lost the last election in spectacular fashion, so pipe the fuck down

yes. the reason the tories are doing so well is most english people like what they are doing. it feels horrible to say it, but perhaps they're not all doing as bad as we - with our bleeding hearts - like to think. they're aspirational, patriotic, they like the royals - they don't give a shit about trans rights or climate change.

imagine being pummelled by austerity for 10 year then voting in massive numbers for the party that did it to you.

Yes but they won Hartlepool. Just ignore this list of places they lost.

If people honestly believe they're voting for change by voting for the party that's been in power for the last ten years, what can you do, really?

Kill them?

Meanwhile at the BBC

Having seen the "military" salutes on video, they were full on Nazi "Heil Hitler" salutes, one of the cunts even did the stand to attention and heel click shit. It was only a military salute if you were in the SS.

Tell it how it is you bastards

People actually seem to like being lied to. As long as it’s what they want to hear and it reinforces their own prejudices. A lot of people are also racist, thick as fuck, pig-ignorant, etc. They deserve this government and this prime minister

It looks like the SNP will have their majority and the union will break up. Well done the Conservative and Unionist party.

What I find amazing is how the people of the North of England and Scotland have drifted away from each other so much. They hate the tories, we embrace them. They rejected Brexit, we embraced it. They see through Johnson, we don't. And yet just a few years ago the political landscape was very similar, the border was nominal. How did it come to this?

I'll take stick for this but Blair gave Scotland power and did sweet fuck all for the North East in comparison.

Eh? He offered us devolution (John Peescott) and we told him to get fucked, by about 80 to 20% iirc. We are happy to be subservient to Westminster.

Why will the union break up? They're not being given the option

If the SNP win a majority a referendum clearly  becomes inevitable and its very likely it will lead to independence in 2 or 3 years time. Its a voluntary union.

I doubt tories will be agreeing to anymore damaging referendums anytime soon

How can they not? Its supposed to be a voluntary union of equals where either partner can walk away if they want. It's completely undemocratic, unconstitutional, and untenable to block it and the resentment will only grow.

Well I imagine they'll say Scotland already made their mind up. You can't just keep reballoting until you get the desired result etc.

Not as simple as this of course but the Scottish versions of the Sun etc are not the same as the English versions it seeps through the consciousness. Nationalism wins and then you have the Brexit factor and the fact that 'Boris' is a celebrity to some and celebrities are a big thing in this country for some bizarre reason?

Had a leader they generally trusted instead of a government gaslighting them

It'll be more or less 10 years like. Iirc that's the same frequency as border polls can be held in Ireland.

Yes, this is a secondary argument. Ten years is a generation by some definitions (and in Sunderland).

So I'm not going to read that twitter thread but regarding the strap line, bollocks. But it's clear the tories value winning above truth and the good of the country, isn't it? So what's better, purity or corruption?
