To suggest the nation loved the dance is patent nonsense, but her pledge to end austerity shows she's clearly more concerned about the threat posed by corbyn than that posed by johnson. she may well cling on to power for a little while longer, as unbelievable as that seems.

We’ll see if that’s followed by actions. I’d guess we may see some increased spending to distract from the forthcoming clusterfuck that is Brexit.

Brexit is nigh on certain to cause a recession. Perhaps the Tory fucknuts have learnt that the best way out of a recession is to spend, not enforce austerity. Mind, not sure we will be able to pay back our creditors.

Several months ago I argued that the Tories would somehow find a way to keep going through this and stay standing, and I'm as convinced that they will do so now as I was then. They're just too cynical - one thing they have done extremely well is used Brexit as a smokescreen from all the other chaos they've wrought.

 

So we're going to be a poorer nation, with a bleaker future, but 'at least Corbyn's Labour won't be in power'.

 

I'm ashamed to be British. We have so much potential as a country and we fritter it away on small minded nonsense which only serves to keep bland, stupid people at the top of society in control of large amounts of money.

A lot of it is to do with Britain’s history. The colonial past, two world wars etc.

It has led to an ingrained arrogance among many parts of the nation. A feeling that the world owes us and that we’re superior to every other country despite the fact that the evidence doesn’t support that, take Stevie as an example. It’s that deluded self-belief that has resulted in Brexit.

yup, our role on the world stage has diminished, but the daily mail like to convince middle england that we're still some kind of imperial power.

I’m afraid a lot of you just don’t get it, in the same way you dismiss the way Thatcher re-invigorated the country in the 80’s. 

 

We may may not be an imperial power house any more but we are still the worlds 5th largest economy with a hell of a lot of influence in the world in all sorts of ways whether that’s our soft power, our universities, our language, our tech sector or our service sector of law and finance.

 

95% of the worlds growth is outside of Europe and we will be far better placed outside of the EU to take advantage of that growth. The EU still has lots of eurozone financial issues under the surface and also are heading to a much more federal position.

 

We are finally going to have a sensible immigration policy that caters for the UK’s needs, not just a source of cheap labour.

 

I see nothing but a very positive future for this country and think we will look back in a few years and wonder why we didn’t do it sooner.

Hmmm. We are actually 6th biggest economy now. There are two EU countries in the top 5. Two are economic superpowers, and Japan is also far stronger than we will ever be. EU has just got an FTA with Japan which we are about to lose, al9ng with every other FTA and treaty. Genius.

 

With less than 1% of the world population, we are distinctly small fry. There's a good reason that globally all nations outside the super powers are forming regional blocks. Except us. How are Liam's trade deals going btw?
