I don't know enough about her. Genuinely. I do sort of recall this stuff about private schools, and I'm very aware that everyone thinks she's some kind of lunatic, but I know nothing of any substance behind that. So ultimately, yes I can imagine it...?

I honestly can't, the thought of it just makes me want to laugh. :D

I've said all along though that's it's not just about electability, it's also about two of the contributing factors to this, credibility and competence. The labour front bench is completely bereft of this at the moment, I've never known anything like it. Someone please wake me up.

Nick Brown being made chief whip is encouraging (for me). Always thought he did an ok job locally. He sent an email around to local labour members in the run up positioning himself firmly on the fence in the whole coup debacle, but he wasn't an out and out Corbynite.

It's the early 80s again, we'll get out of this eventually, it'll just take a decade or more. :boogie:

The position of home secretary is one of the triumvirate of top jobs in the UK government. It demands a person with sufficient competence, integrity, and gravitas to fill it. Abbot is none of those things, she's really a bit of a joke in Westminster. She's not competent or particularly likable. She's a hypocrite. And she's said a lot of dodgy things in the past which if she were a white male she would have been rightly branded a racist misogynist. She has no respect amongst the British public and will be crucified by the right wing press. She's basically a Corbyn stooge. Completely unelectable.

Where does integrity fit with Fox and Hammond who are proven corrupt and gravitas fit with Johnson who's a jokey racist liar?

I agree Abbot is "limited" and your comment about talent pool is right but those in that talent pool have decided to bide their time, plot for and wait for defeat with their heads beneath the ramparts and then emerge talking about caring for the people they won't represent now.

I was dealing with the appointment of Abbot in isolation, I've no interest in defending those Tory cunts. Honestly as for the rest, best just agree to disagree I think.

Well if you use integrity and gravitas as qualities she lacks, I think it's fair to look for those qualities in others.

Labour doing well in the latest polls. CON 43%, LAB 26%, LIBM 8%, UKIP 11%, GRN 6%.

http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/blog/archives/9765

A 17% lead for the conservatives. At this stage in the electoral cycle last time Miliband had a 10% lead, so that's a swing of 27%. Nice one Jeremy.

Hang on. Was the bloke not fairly voted in? Has he been organising a coup against himself from day one? Whatever faults he has the infighting has been a fucking disgrace and I can't help but wonder what would've happened had everybody just got on board and got on with it. Like I think I've already pointed out, if Corbyn, even with the full support of his party failed as his predecessor did, then fair enough, but the bloke hasn't had a chance and you can put that poll down to the party as a whole as much as you can the leader of it.
