There is a difference between prescribing something you know doesn't work because you know it won't work and prescribing something you know doesn't work in the hope that it will work.

Yeah, the study distinguished between pure placebo and impure placebo

http://www.nhs.uk/news/2013/03March/Pages/97-percent-of-GPs-admit-prescribing-placebos.aspx

"Most doctors said placebos were ethical in some circumstances."

Not that this is controversial or Renton would disagree. The problem with Corbyn is he's arguing the dilutey water is working, not making the case for ethical placebo use across the NHS.

It was a while ago and he did vote for scientific funding and against the use of the designation of “doctor” for complementary therapists

Do you think she's going to have a stable enough party after all this bloodshed? Some of the commentators are speculating that with a majority of only 12, and now a very likely hostile set of back benchers, she may have to go for an early GE after all...

The commentators probably want to lay off the predictions for a bit after the past few weeks

@CT: Why would they help her? They care about power not principles or policies. No chance they'd be propping her up.

It's a fair point though isn't it? It's a very slender majority and she must have pissed off more than 7 Tories today.

Yeah I suppose. Tend to think they'll fall into line over the important shit though. For the reasons you gave for them rebelling, i.e. more arsed about power than anything else. Ultimately that means protecting your seat at the next GE

That's a silly attitude

Plenty of policies, particularly if they are good, get cross party support. Look at gay marriage. Couldn't have been passed without labour.

The truth is CT parliament is an utter mess at the moment, not fit for purpose during the worst peace time crisis of our lives. Imo of course. BAMFU for you.

Labour is an utter mess. Conservatives reunited, regrouped and about to rejuvenate the country. IMO.

I don't see why you think it would need rejuvenation when everything's been going so well.

*safety wink*

I suppose it's now going to be the progressive one nation conservatism policies that Cameron would have focussed on had he not had to spend 6 years mopping up Labours crash.

You've just admitted the conservatives need the support of this "labour mess" you clown.

And then back to form with the tried and tested wum shot. Disappointing.

Yes, but that's helping the conservatives not labour.

I guarantee those 170 labour MP's will be watching the telly this morning absolutely gutted. May playing an absolute blinder.
