Rayvin 5302
I mean, it's as if Labour don't want anyone to vote for them ever again. I didn't think it was possible to be more disillusioned with politics and 'democracy' (not that anything going on is democratic, except that accursed referendum) and yet, Labour always find a way to make you feel worse. They're like the Newcastle United of politics.

Rayvin 5302
Well of course - that comment would have been much more relevant pre-Rafa. But I imagine we all know what I mean

NJS 4411
So they only allowed the lawyer who said it wasn't automatic to speak to the meeting and still lost. Accusing Corbyn of incompetence seems a stretch.
Christmas Tree 4840
I think that's the end of the Labour Party now. Months of a leadership campaign to return to where we were two weeks ago.
Happy Face 29
Christmas comes early for Theresa May the Tories are a party whose only internal struggle is how far to the right they go. Complete agreement on dismantling the social safety nets we have and keeping taxes low for the non-poor. Only question is whether they get to kill foxes, discriminate against gays or "send the buggers back" while they do that. The labour crisis is that there aren't shared core principles any longer. May should be rubbing her hands whoever won, because the warring factions will continue to fight for the party until there's a split either way. Christmas Tree 4840
Have you heard of that we'll known centrist Thatcher CT? That's nearly 40 years ago man in a whole different country. Honestly, if you think a socialist leader (whose MP's don't even want him) has ever got a chance of getting elected, then good look to you. Tonight the Labour Party has ceased to be. It is a dead parrot.

Rayvin 5302
And that's never coming. It might if Labour split - imagine if the Tories were fighting off a union of all of these small left wing parties. PR would be inevitable as the Tories would have total control otherwise. Happy Face 29
Rubbish. Party's win from the centre. Had the other Milliband won then Labour would be in power now. I'm agreeing with what you've been saying all week man. The Tories don't all unite behind a candidate because they're willing to put aside fundamental differences to get into power at any cost. They have shared principles by and large. Those priniciples are to the right of centre. The only issue that has led to splits within the Conservative party for decades have revolved around European membership. Isolationists have won the exit and europhiles have a remainer PM. All happy. Traditional labour found Blair a bitter enough pill to swallow but accepted it when it won elections, but the complete capitulation on what caused the economic crisis in 2008 means that the lie is cast in stone for a long time to come that a labour government couldn't manage the books, even as it embraced the centre. Takes a couple of generations for betrayals like that to be forgiven.
Christmas Tree 4840
The Labour Party ceased to be after the referendum - it's no more dead now than it was two weeks ago. It had a chance of re-building once rid of Corbyn and momentum. Now it's just handed Theresa May a guaranteed 2nd term.
