Is this just going to be a two way contest then, or will there be other candidates?

Of Leadsom wins the conservative leadership election, which seems likely, the Tory party will find itself in much the same position as Labour did with Corbyn. We need a GE but there may be no centrist candidate for the vast majority of ordinary voters.

Just eagle or they'll split the vote. Momentum seem to have taken over the membership so it's all going to end in tears. £3 to join combined with social media / tap to pay has left the party fucked.

I can only see a split.

Regarding Leadsom, it wouldn't be like Corbyn as there's plenty of real government jobs to hand out.

I must admit I hope my arse heat gets in as Leadsom doesn't seem very pleasant and has no big experience of government.

According to Kinnock quoting the current Labour Party rules, Jezza can't run as a candidate for his own position unless he's got the support of 20% of the PLP. Fuck knows where that leaves them apart from approaching poop passage, "sans oars"....

Those rules only really mention challengers. Corbyn has already had legal advice that he should be on the ticket regardless.

Don't see how you think leadsom is likely to win - bookies back May strongly. She also seems error prone.

Seems like the Labour rebels are relying on the argument over Corbyn being on the ballot as otherwise I can't see Eagle winning. If they succeed in that strategy I think it's naive to think the membership will just accept it - I think they've ignored why people joined - not for Corbyn himself but the ideas and concepts.

It's just a fight over the name now. Sad it's cone to this but at least there's a groundswell among a significant minority that realise things have to radically change in this country. Good luck to them/us.

If the PLP get their way, perhaps Eagle is a patsy for a "3rd" candidate, Burnham or someone who will get possibly 2/3rds of the vote?

its just exposes the lies of leave even more, either way it was a vote for no change whatsoever. How is May going to get immigration down when even Norway has FoM as part of its deal? how is that vile cow who's come from nowhere going to be looking out for the people of Sunderland or Hartlepool when she's backed by a Channel Islands based hedge fund? The whole thing is fuckin horseshit.

Eh?

Wait, am I being slow and "my arse heat" means something I don't know it means? Please don't tell me I'm out of touch with gay slang or something, I'll have to ask Parky for a lesson.

Bookies were wrong about the election. I think it's quite likely Leadsom will garner significant support from the membership, which incidentally is suddenly growing like it did with Corbyn (but not to that extent).

Leadsom will have us out the single market, I'm not sure May will. We're utterly screwed with that witch.
