To be fair she did follow that up by saying that it would be a horrible thing to say. Right after she had said it.

She's a cold-hearted cunt who lacks the intellect and judgement to lead the country.

I think she'll win. She's going to lurch to the right to try to appeal to the membership and the UKIP/leave vote more broadly.

For all of the Eton sets ideological shrinking of the state with its subsequent, and unnecessary, pain inflicted on the poorest people in the country, you can say they were economically and socially liberal. Things could be about to get a lot worse with this crazy bitch running the country.

The other problem is May might have to position herself further to the right to have a chance. Great.

Leadsom, knowing Theresa May can't have children, has said she's the better candidate cos she's a mother and therefore has a real stake in the country's future. What a monster.

She really is. What a fucking disgrace our so called democracy is, where approximately 150,000 of the people I most loathe in the country are going to select the PM, and by far the better option is Theresa fucking May. Aye, but we got our country back. Jesus wept.

Meenzer, have you been parading the streets dressed as a puppy dog in leather again?

:D I'm a bad gay, I spent Pride weekend stomping around some rainy hills in Wales instead.

(Dressed as a puppy dog in leather, obviously.)

She's a fucking nutter. I love the way she is furiously denying what she said, even though the Times has released the audio script which is utterly unambiguous. Still, what does the truth actually mean nowadays?

I'm imagining you as some fucked up Santa with your loathing list.

Problem is CT conservative members from the shires will be lapping up her bigoted rhetoric, and her pledge to bring back fox hunting might well swing it for her. If the elect AL, the country will be set back 30 years in terms of progressive rights and I'll be vindicated to loathe the arseholes that have put her there.

And how undemocratic is this? The irony that Leave was supposed to be a vote for democracy and we end up with this is staggering.

Leavers wanted to go back to the 1950s so halfway there is a good start.

I don't think she'll win but I'm starting to think electing an odious nutter might be a "good" thing in terms of putting people off the tories.

So far we know Leadsom is:

- anti gay

- pro Brexit

- anti childless

- pro fox hunting

- anti maternity leave

- pro CV faking

The sooner we accept we're returning to Victorian values the better

Had on, leadsom is only 53 apparently? WTF, I thought she was in her 70s. That's one fucking tough paper round.

A paper round where her job was to label the papers with the addresses, not deliver them.

I would have guessed late 50s myself BTW.

Is this just going to be a two way contest then, or will there be other candidates?

Of Leadsom wins the conservative leadership election, which seems likely, the Tory party will find itself in much the same position as Labour did with Corbyn. We need a GE but there may be no centrist candidate for the vast majority of ordinary voters.

Hadn't worked that out, cheers

Yeah but my dangerous and your 'dangerous' are different things. Yours would be something like having a shandy in a gay bar with conflicting decor. ;)

Don't see how you think leadsom is likely to win - bookies back May strongly. She also seems error prone.

Seems like the Labour rebels are relying on the argument over Corbyn being on the ballot as otherwise I can't see Eagle winning. If they succeed in that strategy I think it's naive to think the membership will just accept it - I think they've ignored why people joined - not for Corbyn himself but the ideas and concepts.

Business model-wise, a gay bar with conflicting decor is akin to a bacon sandwich stall in Ramallah.

So the Eagle has landed! This should be fun.

According to Kinnock quoting the current Labour Party rules, Jezza can't run as a candidate for his own position unless he's got the support of 20% of the PLP. Fuck knows where that leaves them apart from approaching poop passage, "sans oars"....
