It's got to do with Glooms protest vote because he wants Labour to move to the left. ( don't worry if you don't know the answer Dave) [emoji6]

On the very same thread where you're claiming you're the most balanced poster on political issues, you're also turning a nuanced argument into what you view as a black and white issue.   You're more out of your depth than John Carver.

If anything it's more important in this election than previously as winning the popular vote will offer legitimacy to any minority government/lead coalition partner.

Aye, that thought did cross my mind as well which is why I didn't vote for the Socialist party as a warning to Labour.

He can't get hard if it isn't illegal.

I haven't contributed to this discussion for a few reasons, one of them being that I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable and eloquent as some of you when discussing politics, but am thoroughly enjoying reading it. I've had the same reservations over who to vote for as many others but despising Cameron, seeing my dad go through 25 years of poor mental health directly caused by Thatcher's decisions, only recently being given a 1% "pay rise" after 5 years of frozen wages (the same amount of time that I've had another mouth to feed) and feeling thoroughly devalued and disrespected in my profession means that can not and will not ever vote Tory. I'm a single mother and a nurse so Cameron holds as little respect for me as I do for him anyway. Whilst Labour have made mistakes, they still best represent me and my little family, so that's what I have to support.

As you were. I'm hoping for a fairly peaceful shift at work tonight so I can watch things unfold through the night.

If I'm not wrong, the majority of voters are left leaning still, and that's giving UKip voters the benefit of the doubt they know what the fuck they are voting for (many think it is a left wing party). A Labour led left wing minority government would have at least as good a mandate as the last lot imo, not that the southern based press will see it that way.....

But as I said above, the liberals want to now be seen as "dead centre" rather than left leaning. This may well play well with Tories who think they have a conscience but if they're more than willing to join with the Tories, I will never trust them.

There's no left any more. All parties realise you have to be con the centre to get anywhere.

Phrases like left leaning simply makes Labour voters feel better about themselves.

Real Labour is long dead.

Would you say the SNP are left leaning?

The centre is the new left. Nobody should underestimate how far to the right the Tories have drifted under pressure from UKip. I personally also still consider the Lib dems left of centre, and Miliband is to the left of Blair. It's a nonsense to claim all the parties are the same, they're clearly not.

I agree to some extent but the Tories are nowhere near the centre. They might have seemed that way in opposition pre 2010 but the vicious attacks on the poor and pandering to extreme rich interests show their true colours.

Stupid thing is as others have said if you ask people what they think of policies, they approve "left wing" ones to a huge extent but still are reluctant to vote for parties with those policies. This shows the huge influence of the media IMO.

They like to give that impression but are just as centred in every day stuff as most parties. Add to that they haven't full control so don't have all the difficult decisions to take as a UK government. They can take credit for the nice stuff and blame the UK for the nasty stuff.

That's the most barmy thing of all. "They're all the same these days, but you should definitely vote for this one!"

The media have been fucking desperate, more than usual. I've been on backshift all week and have watched the BBC news at one. Their political correspondent definitely puts a pro-Tory slant on his pieces steering the news in an irrelevant way.

Which of their major policies do you consider to be centrist then? And how are they the same as the Tories on those issues?
