I'm guessing your new to the politics shabang. ;)

I'm new to this style of politics. I'm used to the old style, which was simply about delivering soundbites and staying on message, but in your own voice. Blair never tried to change the way he actually spoke as far as I remember, and I don't think all the Tory leaders before him could have even if they tried. Other than Hague putting on a baseball cap, I can't remember a more obvious attempt by a leader to come across as something they weren't during a campaign. I'm too young and pretty to remember what Old Labour leaders did. I do seem to recall one of the Thatcher documentaries after she died claimed she specifically altered her style of speaking, but the details are escaping me at this point.

Yeah Thatch spent months working on her delivery and her appearence. In the early days it was deemed that her voice was too shrill along with the hairdoo of a cockatoo.

The new politics and Milli is being coached by an American is to make it feel 'not like politics' and as if they are talking to us informally. Made a mistake not taking the tie off.

Aye, but he's an idiot. He's the moron who thought Milliband is the sort of person who looks natural walking in the park, when in reality he simply looks like Ed Milliband walking in a park. Clegg is the only one who actually looks natural, and it's clearly because he's the only one who feels comfortable in the spotlight. That's why he had that small surge just after the 2010 TV debate, since those are largely about how you come across as, rather than what you're saying. There was nothing more creepy this time around than the way Milliband would start answering the question by looking at the audience member, then half way through pan his head round to face the camera. That crap could be down to his innate unnaturalness, or the dumb yank giving him bad advice.

Have to disagree. Milli's delivery and matey, smiley looks into the camera have imporved immensely the last couple of weeks. He's a bit ungainly can't argue with that. Thought he handled Farage well. Cameron seems to have all but dissapeard from the campaign....The 1922 met last week and the news must have been bad.
